I acquired a pet pig somewhere in Gendarran Fields. It’s really not much use and I’d like to get rid of it permanently.

Guildies suggested the ‘Stow Pet’ icon, and said they thought that meant the pet would be permanently gone from use and in effect no longer in existence.

I tried doing this while the pig was out and also when I had another pet out. Either way that did nothing but make all my pets disappear and I couldn’t use one of them until I clicked on the icon to take a pet out of being stowed. Which meant, then, that the pig was still there, that it randomly appeared in the midst of combat unsummoned, and was a general pain in the neck.

I’d like to eliminate it permanently somehow. How can I do that?

Rangers are the pet class you can not get rid of the pet.

I don’t think you can give a up pet once acquired, just swap it in the pet management for a pet you prefer.

Just set it on passive, and it will not engage in any combat activities, unless commanded to.

I know Rangers are the pet class. I just wanted to get rid of this one pig. It doesn’t fight – just stands there and snuffles. I wouldn’t care except that it pops up often in the middle of combat, replacing whatever useful pet I already have out. And then it does the snuffling thing, so I don’t even have to put it on passive really. It already is passive!

When you acquire a pet, it’s in pet management (sort of like a pet bank) available for you to activate it, you can only have 2 land pets active at a time. So if you select another pet instead of the pig, it’ll just sit in pet management and won’t bother you by being useless.

So when you tame an animal, you get the option of equipping it now with a pop up. Usually you press No so it won’t override the current pet you have selected.

If you are unsure of how to swap in pets. Press K (or whatever key you have bound to open the pet menu) and you can switch pets there.You will see the pet portraits and there is a little tab thing with an arrow above their heads. Press that and the list of pets you have available will all be in color. The ones you haven’t collected yet will be greyed out.

Thanks. I understand how the mechanics of the pet thing work. I just never should have accepted the pig when an NPC in one of the little villages asked me if I’d like it.

Well the good news is you don’t have to use the pig ever if you don’t want to Never hurts to have it already tamed though, just in case.

I’m assuming you want to get rid of only the pig correct? If that’s the case (which i’m assuming it is) you need to push the button K which will bring up your pet menu, you can then change out what pets you are currently using. So you could swap your pig out for something else and never have to deal with it again.
