My ranger wears Carrion armor.

With the new settlers armor now available, I started taking a look at what everyone else is wearing and realized I must be the only person in the game that wears carrion. I run mostly short bow with conditions so I looked at what seemed to have the most condition and that’s what I went with.

Does anyone have a breakdown of what is the best armor for rangers based on different types of builds?

Also, what would settler’s be good for in terms of rangering?

Malice and Power are nice, but I feel that the Vitality is a wasted stat. Personally, I’d run Rabid or Rampager. Rabid because in your typical condi-build toughness is more valuable and the precision is good for sigil procs. As for Rampager, it’s good for hybrid power/condi builds especially when you have high Prowess.

Would those work as well if I wanted to switch it up a little and run in with a sword?

Other folks are using Settler’s armor and weapons coupled with Apothecary trinkets in a 313 condition bunker build. Melee weapons,etc.

I’d like to try something with short bow, but am having a love affair with sword+torch atm. Axe+dagger as alternate.

I heard also about some full knights sets for ranger + zerker weps. 41% crit chance and 3k armor (knights is toughness power prec)
If You are about swords….
be aware of 1hsword – it’s a bad idea until ANet will fix their 1 chain skill.
but greatswords….
these are the good ones
(yeah of course, 1h swords have multum evasive skills…. but gs have one evade skill which is used much more often that all of 1hswords – evade on 3th skill of 1 number chain and counter atack blockk all the atacks so….)
Settler’s as for me is a good stats with very bad name…
(as Sentinels was bad stats with good name )
(I personaly use knights jewerly but ascended clerics\clerics + though inf amulet armor is mix of knight/rampager/apothecary(or cleric’s instead of that last one) and I’m thinking about change that apothecary piece on settlers.
axe as for me could be good idea IF ANet would fix some animation issue that are mostly very annoing – when I use ANY skill that require throws any of my weapon for a phew seconds I loose both weapons and back item. that could be very annoing at nigth with torch in hand
