Ranger traps reveal you, thief traps don’t.
I’m sure you will be able to kill some people running longbow/shortbow but any decent player will get into melee range and destroy you.
Why would they make ranger traps reveal and thief traps not? I play both classes so im not advocating that thief traps are unfair but if they dont reveal one class why would the reveal another? Doesnt make a whole lot of sense.
When i used to run this build i could handle most 1v1s due to the stealth, super speed, and cripples even if they were mele. obv the build is not the best but it is super fun. I just tried to find the video that turned me on to the build back when it was first used but i couldn’t find it just to link to show play style.

At this point I’ve given up trying to figure out what goes through their heads.
Will test tonight but if this is true Ireno please consider making traps not reveal on activation. It can be very confusing when you expect to get stealth and are instantly revealed when someone leaps in at you as you drop the trap. Feels like a bug and is what made me stop using the trapper builds back before trait changes. It makes you vulnerable to mele and ranged classes and when stealth is your defense it hurts to be revealed….i know…because im also a thief It really would make all the difference. And i know its not your call exactly but same goes for guardians.

Irenio is the one who reworked traps, and he made em not ranged… and he worked on spirits too…..So…

Ya idc as much about losing the ranged traps as much as i didnt like being revealed on activation. But either way i will be dusting off trapper ranger and heck might even make it a stealth celestial druid trapper while i’m at it! :P

Don’t care about the revealed. You can’t make thieves get revealed, unfortunately they need stealth to not be a dumpster fire. Care more about the fact that apparently Guard is getting a trap that stun breaks and grants stab LEL.
Eh, haven’t ranger traps always revealed you when using trapper runes, when someone steps into the trap??
Stun break trap on ranger would be nice. Spring trap break stun and knock back enemies yay! Im not saying to reveal thieves for using traps im saying trapper runes should effect all classes the same way. Several threads here discussing traps, how they work, post 23rd patch of June.
Honestly, I’m in the camp that says they work perfectly fine once you adapt to the change. Only thing I would prefer to be fixed ASAP is the fact our pets are not gaining stealth upon placement of a trap. That is the only glaring flaw I have with them with regards to PvE – WvW.
I don’t run traps in sPvP.

I believe that the reason why thief traps do not reveal is that they don’t deal damage iirc, just apply condis or stuff like that. Ranger traps deal direct damage so they reveal.
MEHHHH!!! i no like reveal. I’d be ok with 100% condition application and no direct damage on ranger traps to prevent reveal. The direct damage on them is pitiful anyways so whats the point of having it?
