I know its weird to use non-condi weapons with traps, but this build works surprisingly well.

RF hits around 4-6k. Hunter’s shot + traps allows you to re-position for your next PBS and RF. Getting revealed from trap doesn’t matter too much since your opponent will be eating up a small burst of conditions (103 bleeds, 630 burns, 205 poisons).

When running away, the stealth is not as important so don’t worry if you get revealed. The super speed from trap runes ignores the speed debuffs from being in combat, crippled, and chilled. Super speed + swoop is almost a 2000 range leap so most people can’t catch you.

If you find yourself getting CCed/immobed a lot, switch out spike trap for lightning reflexes.

Not so great a build. Using LB is good to have for the distance. However if youre going to go trap, go full trap. I wont give away the build i use, but my rp hits between 5-7k and with all my condis on a single target, they take 60k in damage in bleeds, burns, poisons, torment, chills…….

The food you chose were cool, but id also suggest getting the 30 min foods. You can usually get 3 30 minute foods for the price of 1 1hour food.

Have you considered running sword/dagger with energy/geomancy instead of greatsword with energy/intelligence? The greatsword is one of my favourite weapons, but the s/d combo allows you to get a condi burst of 9 bleed stacks as well as potentially opening yourself up to taking frost trap instead of vipers neat (which won’t reveal you)… Worth a thought! You could also take entangle for additional condition pressure.

Even with trap runes, full condi trap builds aren’t very viable in WvW since close combat will apply reveal more often. This is why I decided to use mixed stats with LB.

I picked greatsword over sword/dagger because of super speed + swoop can pretty much get you out of combat instantly. It is also great for catching nike warriors. Though, tbh, I have not yet tried sword #2 with super speed, but I really think swoop is much faster.

in pvp i also use a longbow + traps build, mine uses rampager amulet and focuses on longbow traits in the marksman tree rather than wilderness survival, i use 6/6/2/0/0
works really well staying up high defending a spot, and when the enemy inevitably tries to reach you they hit your traps and their health just vanishes.

Looks pretty cool. I think I’d also prefer S/D and then lose Viper’s Nest (either for LR or Frost Trap). I’d rather plan to win than plan to be able to escape :P

S/D will probably do better in 1v1 or dueling situations. I’ve been doing more 1vX these days so it really depends on what kind of fights you want to find. I’m not good enough to fully 1vX, but I can usually pick a guy off a group, stomp, and run away. Its almost like those annoying thief/nike warrior builds lol.

Nothing new that Trapping LB hybrid is viable.

And no, going in with any other weapon than LB is just masochism. You gain perfect kiting opportunity (super speed is really powerful if you know how to use that). Not over-ranging your foe and sticking in their range is much worse.

Also, if you know how to combo LB properly, it will do crazy amount of condition damage, too. Rapid Fire through fire field anyone?

Lol, looks like I’m late for the party. I thought about remorseless, but settled for more armor in case of lucky warr eviscerates or medi guard bursts. I hope they bring these runes into pvp >:)

nice for roaming and zerging if you in bad spot
dmg is nice
the traps are used to cc, stealth and reposition

Yea, this is the approach players will conclude upon testing (when we’re using Trap runes). From experience, anything other than longbow triggers reveal more often.

In theory you can almost perma stealth (3 traps, but not advised, and LB 3 skill). I think people would figure out later that throwing trap trait would add to the survivability (people/ pets/ illusions/ mobs closing in will always be in the radius of a point blank trap thus triggering reveal instantly) so it’s handy to have a trap you can throw just for the stealth (up a wall or anything). This playstyle of stealth, hit from distance, repeat, has a potential to one day turn into a cheese build…

3 traps is fun, but not advised. I run it with axe/torch. I find it is a role more of standoff, range, and finisher. If I don’t plant the person when I’m solo then I trap my way out of it. I’ve had a group of 6 earlier chase me all the way across the map Personally for me, because I don’t melee too well with my Ranger (alt) I find thief my issue. Everything else is fair game more or less.

I like the trapper runes and also tied in the sigil of incapacitation. It is also fun.

Once I get a little better in operating Shadowplay and Vegas, I’ll probably make some montage about playstyle with trapper runes from different approach.

To be honest, the biggest counter is Mesmer. Clones, phantasms and other kitten tend to cover up very large area and clean your traps. There are ways, however. You have to take different approach and just bomb Mesmer in one spike.

Thief, after a little practice isn’t that hard if you’re, same like me, running Longbow.

3 traps is ridicously dumb idea, same like taking Frost Trap instead of Spike/Snake and Flame IMO ^.^ .
