Trapper is different. The no-throw made it so. Like or dislike if that is what you run it feels different. So that by itself is one issue. Second issue related to the first is that now you have to lead people into it and you don’t have as much evasive maneuver as pre-patch. I think once you get the hang of it though it will probably be ok – just a guess.
Bigger issue is the overall speed of the kill. Burst is insane on most classes. One on one dancing it isn’t so bad but anything greater and the game is over, port and start over. This is from a WvW point of view.

I agree with all of that sir. I am coming from a pvp perspective, against kiting classes like mesmer, non throwable traps is downright useless.
Btw, clones, ais stepping on traps are also a disadvantage on top of not being to position your traps on range.
Arming time has very little effect so this is one is good. I would say traps are downright useless now in higher tier pvp.
Traps have always been useless in higher tier pvp for the exact reasons you mentioned: pets, clones and simple dodges constantly trip them. I honestly don’t see any difference in trap viability after patch.

While you do have points, I played trapper in tournies and had great success with them.
Throwing traps gives you better positioning of traps, and at the same time can be used to “burst” since you can throw them directly at foes’ feet, compared to setting a trap and waiting for them to come to you.
Traps are waaaaaayy better before since you can aim them,. you can even throw them under the ledges in maps like Kyhlo to damage the ones above them.
Arming time although miniscule affects that too since the foe can likely just get out of the trap even before it triggers.
Also, traps had 100% condition duration increase before.
You can throw the trap directly at your foe to prevent random triggers from clones and AI.
