When you hit “K” to open pet management why can’t you change the top box which is occupied by your first pet.

Say I started with the Moa, but when I hit the swap pet button( I think it’s “F4”) I want it to switch between a spider and a cat. I can’t do this because i can only change the pet in the secondary portrait. So I can only swap between the Moa and a cat, or the Moa and a spider.

I’ve seen screenshots in the GW2 Wiki where the little drop down arrow is available for the first portrait so I assume it was available once.

Has it changed? Does it open up later?

Any help is appreciated.

Whether due to intentional coding or just a weird system glitch, you can only change out the pet you currently have active. In your case, when you try to change the pet portrait, you have the 2nd pet active. Press f4 to swap to the first pet (the moa) and you should be able to change it.

And you can’t change your pet when pet swap is on CD

Actually, no. You can change pets in either of the top 2 boxes at any time as long as 1) you’re not in combat and 2) you’re pet swap is not on CD. You can still hit the dropdown icon to view all available pets, but can’t make the change until the swap comes off CD. You can only change your bottom 2 pet boxes when in water.
