Id like that yeah, ive literally bypassed harassing your realm to flip camps and kill yaks where I can only on tc’s.
Not because I dislike tc, I think theyre a great realm and have amazing teamwork. Its mainly to target the leading realm t his week.
That being said, I have yet to see a longbow build that does more damage.
Exact same spec I was considering, but with LB/SB and a bit more defensive items/armor. Please keep us posted as to how it works.
Just as an FYI, I had done some testing on my Warrior related to percentage based damage bonuses and found that they stack multiplicatively and not additively. This means instead of simply adding the bonus, multiple them. When stacking several bonus together, this bonus grows larger.
I tested this as well on my Ranger and found the same. Here’s the basic laydown of my test:
- Ranger with pet on Passive in The Mists
- non-damage boosting Runes (just didn’t bother changing them since they had no impact)
- Soldier’s Amulet (to minimize crits)
- Testing at 1000+ range
- 20 Pts in Marksminship initially added (no traits)
- Points in Skirmishing and Wilderness survival added for testing a specific trait and then removed as needed (as they otherwise don’t affect damage)
Data:
- Longbow AA: 185
- Eagle Eye: 194
- Hunter’s Tactics: 203
- Peak Strength: 203
- Eagle Eye + Hunter’s Tactics: 213
- Eagle Eye + Hunter’s Tactics + Peak Strength: 235
- Eagle Eye + Hunter’s Tactics + Peak Strength + Steady Focus: 258
- Eagle Eye + Hunter’s Tactics + Peak Strength + Steady Focus + Sigil of Force: 271
Take any example, and you find that if damage bonuses stacked additively, the damage numbers would be higher than expected. Take the final example:
- Additive stacking: 185 * (1 + .05 + .10 + .10+ .10 + .05) = 259
- Multiplicative stacking: 185 * (1.05 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.05) = 271.47
Long story short,in the OP’s setup, the damage bonus applied will end up being ~61%. Percentage based damage bonus are extremely powerful in this game.
@phantomfury I’m assuming this is with a balanced weapon?
Very interesting find, this has the potential to be ground breaking! :O

That is a correct assumption and something I should’ve mentioned as it is a key variable to the the test.
Something like this, ive tested this build and i found out that actually i do less dmg than a regular power build..I geuss that theres no point in going +x% with conditions cause when you dont meet the conditions(behind-full endurance-etc) your dmg is bad.but only in pvp,i have test it in pve
For me and my experiences with this build now… I dont have a problem with targeting players from the side or picking off players running away as they are very easy to spot from a zerg standpoint. (huge kill me now flag when you see this)
From a solo standpoint, I will switch to piercing arrows for supply camps and have a lot of success flipping the camp faster than just about every spec ive tried.
In both scenarios I dont use endurance, my health is +90%, when it isnt im usually not fighting and trying to get away.
All in all, the positioning really spices things up for me I hope others try it and see how it works out.
Strictly speaking on WvW.
I use Scholar Runes instead of thief, at 1500 it’s a lot easier to be at 90% or more health than it is to flank.

May want to run ranger runes. The combined bonus is 9.6% between the extra precision, condition damage, and +5% damage when you have a companion (and you always do, even if they are defeated).

Ranger runes don’t give condition damage, they give crit damage and precision…

Ya, I like this option here better too, switching them out

you also get more crit damage, always nice for builds like this.

Right, typed out condition & meant crit damage. Point still stands, however. It is +9.6% damage no matter your health, flanking, etc.

Aye either would work, in this case I already bought the scholar runes so im going to use those for a while before testing the others.
Currently the highest rapid fire ive hit after using hunters shot is 19k.
Average seems to be 9500-13000 though with this build/setup

Make sure you just auto, hunters, and barrage at 1000-1500 range, otherwise it’s a DPS drop

Going with the % addition theme. I just worked on another build. I was full zerker for a couple of weeks waiting on the huge initial hit. Good for laughs but very little survivability.
This build doesn’t have the initial hit but might sustain should be as good…plus live a little longer and escape when need to.
10% each for steady focus….hunters..peak strength….Scholars and 5% for sigil of force and Eagle Eye
