You all know how long the Ranger bug list is and there didn’t change much in the last 3-4 Months, at least not the urgent ones.

The idea behind this thread
Make a top 5 list of the most needed fixes and hope the devs decide to work fix it in the order the community provides.
Even if we don’t get a 100% clear bug list next month, at least we should get the top urgent bug fixed, or maybe even the 2 most needed ones!

And here’s how:
1) Post here, the more attention this thread gets, the better.
2) Please try to only post one bug and explain why it is the most needed.
3) If the bug you think is the most needed is already posted, use the “+1 System” of this forum
4) +1 this thread (I’d guess that somewhere at least the devs can see this?)

For #2, that is important so the upvotes for one bug all go to one post if possible.

Type: Skill/Shout/“Search and Rescue”
Short description:This Shout is really useful in dungeons, but it fails too often. Everytime I use this I hope the pet will start the ressing.
Why is this that urgent:Because we need a reliable ress skill just like all the other professions have. Even if some might be bad (imo Illusion of Life) they atleast work.

This same goes for Lick Wounds although I think that after the latest patch this has worked 100% of the time, but I’m not sure.

Mine are all PvP requests… just saying that so people understand where I am comming from. Anyway these are a few I thought of offhand while staring at this sleepily, hopefully what I wrote makes some kind of sense.

Type: Weapon/Axe/Offhand
Short description: The 5 Ability Ranger stuck in place for a long period of time, this ability does not have the trade off of 100B being that it synergizes will with quickness and only reflects projectiles. You can also not even move while casting this. This weapon could be used to shield/protect people if it allowed mobility making it useful for a support build.
Remaking the 4 ability was an interesting start, however I don’t think a bonus to damage was the answer, perhaps a cripple or a root attachment to get people stuck in the 5 ability longer would be more useful.
Why is this that urgent: Weapon is completely unused by every single type of ranger.

Type: Skill/Elite/Rampage as One
Short description: Rampage of one is too obvious when compared to other buffs, the glowy effect might be cool when you are pve’n but its bait for boon removal. Make it more similar to when a signet or less apparent as it is one of the only abilities that turns you all nice and red with a trail following you everywhere.
Why is this that urgent: Too obvious

Type: Skill/Elite/Spirit of Nature
Short description: Spirit of Nature once again when doing its rez is far too obvious, I think one of two steps needs to be taken to make it more viable, 1 -give it a trait somewhere in the spirit line that when a spirit is casting its ability it gains stability, or 2 – make the spirits active animation not raising his hand up to draw everyone’s attention to it. Once again, find in PvE not okay for PvP.
Why is this that urgent: Wasted elite versus a good/aware team.

Type: Skill/Utility/Protect Me
Short description: In PvP its always going to be cleave damage 90% of the time, so your pet running to your side (no longer damaging) into the cleave while taking your damage at the same time means, that he is not just obsorbing your damage he is also taking his portion as well, would like to see this be more lenient in PvP as it forces a DPS ranger to take a non-DPS pet (ie counter his own build) for survivability when no other class has to make this choice.
Why is this that urgent: Survival skill that no class can really take as tank pets are useless in pvp other than this ability.

Type: Skill/Utility/Quickening Zephyr
Short description: This is petty of me, but I would like to see this be a stun break like both thief + warriors is. Just for the sake of continuity, or you can give it a bonus second duration instead like the engineers does.
Why is this that urgent: Class equality

Type: Skill/Utility/Signet of Stone
Short description: Requires 30 point investment to be used by the ranger and has a 120 second cd. Seems a bit over the top, I would love to see this re-aligned with endure pain (nerf 1 second, remove 30s from CD and remove 30 point investment). This would allow non-power rangers to take this signet as well.
Why is this that urgent: a Utility skill should not require a 30 point master trait to be useful.

Type: Skill/Utility/Muddy Terrain
Short description: has the same cooldown as caltrops, however it can be casted from a distance and immobilizes for 2 seconds on its initial pulse. However this ability ticks once every 2 seconds, meaning it doesn’t even perma cripple players inside its field, whereas caltrops cripples each second AND applies 2 bleed stacks. I don’t think ranged casting means it should be that inferior to another ability. Just giving it the ability to perma cripple should be enough.
Why is this that urgent: Weak by comparison

Type: Trait/Wilderness Survival/Companion’s Defense
Short description: I am fairly sure this is a bug or an unintended design flaw, the 2 seconds of protection starts athe the beginning of the dodge roll (when you are invulnerable) meaning you only really gain 1 second of protection that is useable, increase its duration, rewrite the ability to say 1 second of protection, or make it trigger at the end of the dodge roll.
Why is this that urgent:1 second of missing protection

Type: Trait/Marksmanship/Remorseless
Short description: Opening strikes need some way to become “reactivated”. On killing a foe may be fairly decent for PvE, but in PvP that is not a good refresh mechanism. Perhaps it refreshes on a timer, or on weapon/pet swap.
Why is this that urgent: Weak reapplication scheme

Type: Pet Swap out of combat
Short description: buff stacking allowable again, fix this by locking pets at the start of a match so people will be stuck with moa’s. That is justice enough.
Why is this that urgent: It would be funny to see someone stuck with a moa, and its exploitable.

Type: Skill/Downed/Lick Wounds.
Short description: Still very unreliable, and does not work on uneven surfaces.
Why this is urgent: It means that rangers lose one of their most important skills while downed – it’s killed me at least 5 times this morning alone.

Short description: Longbow Autoattack does not function at extended range, between 1200 and 1500
Why is this that urgent: Longbow for Rangers has the longest possible range, but most of this benefit is lost due to the lack of auto-attack. The Longbow power 1 is also considered underwhelming…addressing this would address that as well, for those who have traited thusly.

Pets inherit agony resistance from their owner. It’s patently obvious that this needed and it’s only a matter of time until it’s done. So it should be done next patch.

Pet survivability in AOE or dodge intensive content. Either fix this or stop creating content with so much area damage.

Yea i think maul shouldve been a blast finisher in the 1st place. (huge bear crashing down on you) And i also thought that it would fit the skill rather well to give u and your allies one stack of might. (Bear’s roar sounds mighty enough)

I would use the format but I have nothing specific. I will use the format with any example suggestions and be concise however:

1) Utility function and balance. Most of the rangers utilities are fairly subpar and provide little to nothing for the overall builds they are being used on.

Type: Spirits
Short: Either the benefits need to be applied to every ally in the radius, or the internal cooldown needs to be reduced.
Urgency: Rangers lack the ability to provide and maintain high stacks of boons for themselves, so it would be important that if spirits are to retain their current level of survival that they are made an option worth slotting for that actually provides its benefits enough to be worth it, competitive with other classes in the game with similar self/group boon options.

Type: Signets
Short: Improve the passive/active effect of some signets, as well as reducing recharges to make them competitive with other classes signets with similar/same functions.
Urgency: Most of rangers active effects are garbage, because you have to trait 30 points for half of them to be effective, and then either the effects are not long enough or not available enough due to long recharge times to make activating signets even useful. Some of the passives simply aren’t strong enough to even deserve the slot, and then the actives take too long to recharge (see Signet of Stone).

Type: Shouts
Short: These were supposed to be our pet synergy type skills and highlight a strength of the class when they were implemented
Urgency: Shouts effects are just plain subpar, especially for their recharges. Rampage as One is the best pet skill we get, and its an elite. There should definitely be stronger functionality and synergy between pet and player, and shouts would be the way to accomplish this. One only needs to look to the guild wars 1 beastmastery skills for ideas.

2) Trait cleanup and rework that blanket covers pet issues.

Type: Traits
Short: There are many many many useless traits or inefficient traits (1s of might for activating a signet… -.-). Change them for rangers to make pets better and weapon options and damages potentially better.
Urgency: Traits can be used to solve many of these problems. There must be a number close to about 80% that represents the unused traits in this game because of how bad or inefficient they are. The family traits for pets are fairly useless in most of their effects, and could be combined to remove the family tree requirement, and then incoming damage reductions could be implemented, and that sort of thing. Look at all the traits that affect other classes with pet-like skills, and then look at rangers with how little they get that positively affects their class mechanic in comparison, and then change accordingly.

3) Weapon Skills (there isn’t much)

Type: Shortbow auto attack and poison fan
Short: For a condition based weapon, the conditional bleed application is a bit too strict when compared to other classes condition applying options on auto attack. Also, the poison fan is just counter intuitive to a 1200 ranged weapon. It works in pvp, but loses effect in other places where you would want that 1200 range to mean more.
Urgency: Everything in the game should have balanced options. It is strange that a rangers shortbow is the only weapon that has a condition condition application, and it loses a chunk of its competitive edge. If not removing the conditional and then adjusting the damage/bleed stacks appropriately, then make the conditional less strict, or even more pet interactive. Also, the shortbow 2 should be made to have some sort of actual potential usefulness at 1200 range.

Type: Longbow
Short: If the damage numbers are numerically fine, then the attack pace needs to be increased, or vice versa.
Urgency: The longbow is just not a competitive DPS weapon, and loses even more practicality on a moving target because it shoots too slow to out DPS the shortbow unless traited to 1500 range where a shortbow can’t hit and then attacking an AFK player who will take the hits. Either the attack pace needs a buff or the damage needs a buff to make it the clear more powerful power based weapon.

Type: Greatsword
Short: Low damage, make damage more consistent with the rangers spear is all
Urgency: It would make it a better weapon without being a gamebreaking change, and everybody would be happy about this.

Type: Elite Skill/Entangle

Does not apply 20 stacks of bleeding, but only reapplies one stack every second (even though the description states it applies 20 stacks for 8 s). Ranged weapons cannot destroy the vines. The skill does not affect all the enemies around you.
Urgency: Not being able to destroy the vines has killed me numerous times, the 20 stacks of bleeding could help a lot in near death situations and not affecting all enemies around you does not make sense since it has a set range of 600. This skill overall just needs to be explained better in the game description.
