Completely lost
congrats. join the club with ANET
You can fit druid to lots of old builds and also create new ones. Post your old builds which you feel most comfortable with and game mode type and i’ll be happy to help.
I replaced my Berserker Longbow with a Berserker Staff and left the rest mostly the same, except now I no longer need Signet of the Hunt.
It’s so nice to have a responsive weapon with a quick auto-attack that doesn’t lose damage at close range and also can’t be reflected or destroyed. You lose some damage and range, but it gives ease of mind in return. Except Retaliation… you want to watch out for that, but so does Longbow.
Staff 1 also has another fun factor. If you keep auto-attacking and do nothing else, the damage number will keep adding up endlessly.
for pve or pvp? i’ve had some success with a condi bunker druid using apothecary, it’s really tough to kill.
for pve play core ranger.
This is a fun build I made yesterday for PvE with my reaper gf. A modification of Power Ranger and works quite well. I’m sure there’s plenty other options and improvements one could make, but mostly posting this to show that one can find uses for druid that doesn’t involve staff (which i’m not really feeling when it comes to playstyle).
you sound like a fail-anet dev
I’ve been having a lot of success in PVE with this build. I haven’t tried it in WvW yet but it should work pretty well. I’m using full Crusaders with druid runes.

Healing and using glyphs gives a good chunk of bonus damage because of the Grace of the Land trait, along with the 10% damage increase glyph. I swap pets constantly just to spam the f2 (which is why i’m a fan of keeping the smokescale’s f2 as Smoke Assault). TBH this seemingly is the most damage I’ve been able to do as a ranger using a power type build. I pretty much switch to celestial form when ever I get the chance just to give 5 people a pretty significant damage increase. The sword / horn seems to be the only weapon that has good synergy with the staff, atleast for PVE.
So far this is the most fun I’ve had on the ranger… there’s definitely some clunkiness to work out but I don’t think its broken by any means.

I see you already twiked you build to druid. You play LB/GS setup, its a PVE build or WvW?
For pure pve, I’m not sure druid bringing much to your build compared to BM/SM.
I simply don’t use the staff, even a zerker staff seems weak to me. I have it as my second weapon but only because I’m trying to like it. I love the long bow and may just go back to my staples or I may try longbow, axe/warhorn.

I tried as well but LB/GS just brings so much more. LB 4 and GS 5 and GS 4 break bars really well. they bring so much more damage too. it’s a shame that you can’t use GoE without slotting druid but I think i prefer frostspotter or sinister ranger to anything druid brings right now.
The thing Staff has over Longbow is it’s ability to ignore reflect and destroy, which makes it a very sustained damage weapon. It’s a bit like you are applying damaging conditions to your target for the duration that you are attacking him, which he can not condi cleanse and is based on power damage. It’s pretty weak, but it’s constant pressure.
If staff applied conditions in addition to having its current dps and healing utility it would be a much better weapon.
Sinister Staff + Sharpened Edges can build quite some stacks of bleeding, but I don’t think the damage is more than Berserker staff. I could be wrong though, I didn’t test it very seriously.
