With the new changes to pet responsiveness, I want to try out a BM build for roaming in WvW. The problem is I have never run a BM build, and don’t know what would be good.

I currently run a trapper build, with a mix of Rabid, Dire and Celestial gear, so staying on the condition side of things would be best. I don’t particularly want a full bunker spec, though, as I prefer something with more balanced offense and defense.

I’m thinking of starting out with 30 in NM for SotF and 10 in WS for survival CD reduction to manage conditions. This leaves 30 (or 6) points left over. Should these all go directly into BM to maximize pet potential, or would it be better to split them between BM and another trait line?

Weapons probably sword/torch and either SB or axe/dagger. Slot skills 3 of the following: Lightning Reflexes, Muddy Terrain, Sharpening Stone, SoR. Thoughts?

Oh, and pets (I guess they are important for a BM build). Is dual birds still the way to go?

I, too, am looking for a condition build.

I don’t care what it specs into – I am full Rabid gear with trinkets that make me balanced

Dire is pretty much what I run for armor, with Carrion for trinkets. I go 0/2/6/0/6…or whatever translates to 0/10/30/0/30. Using the new poison master GM with a canine and a bird. I’ve managed to win almost all of my fights this evening, and managed to escape a stalemate against a mesmer.

Using Apothecary’s/Settler’s/Dire gear with Dwayna runes,
using an eagle or other bleeding bird
2 traps and signet of wild
also for weapons I would say axe/dagger and sword horn (with heal spring for leap and blast finishers) and leeching and corruption on each and constant switching to maximize cooldowns
I have had a lot of fun with this one

I am also working on making a possible wilderness survival condi build, I will update you on how that goes

Ok, so I found that wildy survival tends itself to offense rather than defense so I built around that. The build I came up with has insane condi spike and dps.
Axe/Dagger (blood, corruption) krait runes, rabid amulet
2 III
2 II
4 VI VII
6 IV VII XIII

pet is personal choice, I find the reef drake to be effective as this build has such a wide variety of conditions and that adds one more type (with so many different condis it is tough to clear them all)
troll unguent, sun spirit, LR, sharpening stone, entangle
with perm fury uptime (with fury=59% crit chance) and 10-25 stacks of bleed as well as almost if not all other condis in the game, most people crumble to this build
The build has very low cooldowns and high condi spike
it has some tankiness, but you must play it very aggressively to win (you must kill them as quickly as possible as you can’t outlast them)
With the Spirit, 2 sharpening stones, entangle (and the krait elite skill proc which applies bleed, torment and poison), axe bleeds, axe chill axe weakness, dagger poison, dagger cripple and bleed, bleed on crits, drake confusion they should always be suffering a variety of conditions
I have NOT tried to roaming in WvW with this build and it may not be effective there. It was made for sPvP far assault.

^Survivability comes from Troll Heal, toughness, and evades (but again I must stress that this build is not the tankiest)

Just spent a couple of hours playing with with this build, and it’s been quite fun.
