Condi BM roaming build: please critique!
Sword 2 is used in place of GS 3 by anyone with condition builds. That is your escape right there. The process is to evade backwards, then do an about face and leap away. Its almost as good as GS3, and probably better for escaping since the first skill is an evade.
Regen builds typically also carry some way of applying the regen boon, either through the Guard skill (requiring 30 points in nature magic) or dwayna runes.
Just running SotW on its own is not enough passive regen.

First option has GS and you don’t want that in a condi build, I would suggest you to use s/t + a/d ( both sets have an evade skill which is important to survive bursts ).
The weapons : I’m a big fun of of sigil of energy, besides 2 sigil of burst don’t stack togheter.
Armor : Apo is very good but the problem is that you are not making that healing power much of a use, you have 0 regen and you gain only ~400hp every 25 secs with that healing power, imo is wasted, I would go for dire armor for more HP instead.
Trinkets : Put some chrysocola jewels and you are good to go.
Utilities : Signet of the wild procs only 80hp/s i would go for signet of renewal against condi classes
Traits :
- Marskmanship (2 over 3) —> you are using 2 pets that have powerfull conditions, +50% in duration is quite powerfull
- Beastmastery (10 over 9) —> 5s of Vigor every 20 is not bad, it can give you a bit more survival, and it also procs with any kind of pet.
The build is pretty cool, but I prefer regen build a bit more
Apothecary/setterls + 10 in Nature magich + dwayna runes is enough to have good regen uptime, if you want to try it just remove 10 from BM and you good to go.
I suggest you to experiment with builds and try to find which you are more confortable with.
This is what I’m running right now, it not definitive I still need to find the right spot fro healing power/vitality :
I’m going to 100% agree drop the great sword. It has no condi options and is ~ equal to the sword in escape and mobility. Sword gives you way more options plus more condis on swap.
Also I just do NOT see the drake being useful to you, but if you have a method of making it work, kudos (gods know enough people mock me for running zerker.) Pets are very… temperamental so make sure you can use it against a player before just reading the description and taking it.
Snow Leopard is a waste IMO. If you want to take camps quickly, take Entangle. If you want to escape zergs, take WP as your elite and then take a second elite.
If your major concern is being able to escape. Either run a power build with s/d with gs or if you want to maintain condi run s/d with sb (key trait being martial mastery in both cases). I just posted a video which shows the ability to kite with either s/d, sb or a/d,s/t
sb + s/d is slower dmg but certainly has more mobility
“Third, other than Emphatic Bond, what other traits should I take in wilderness survival?”
I personally run shared aguish, off hand trainig other option is to run vigor trait when healing, but i get that from lightning reflexes. I like shared aguish for finishes when roaming solo. Down state can be a kitten when soloing and your fighting more then 1.
My opinion?
Build 1:

Why:
Wilderness Survival traits are optimized for your overall bunker build, they are optimal given that you rely on survival skills.
Beast Mastery is your second source of damage, so bursting your enemy down on pet swap and weapon swap will be key, especially if you use it along with your Wilderness Survival traits.
Weapon Choice: drop greatsword, it’s not good for condition damage, it’s more practical in other situations. I can say that via lots of trials with it. Sword/Torch synergizes well together, axe/torch does not, you want axe/dagger for the dodge and extra cripple as you will want you enemy to stay at range. Shortbow is a great hit & run option which you should explore with in roaming combat situations, especially when doing condition damage (concussion shot is great for interrupting enemy heals, especially d/d elementalist’s heal rotations… so don’t waste it!).
Add your own flavor to the situation, your BM trait choices were not bad but it’s good that you experiment with what you’ve got.
Good luck!

run your builds for a week or so and tweak it to your liking. There are certain things that you may or may not like depending how you like to play. A lot of rangers have ran a BM condition build so you’ll get plenty of in-game help if you ask the right people.
Good luck!

I’m probably going to repeat what other people have said here but if you can successfully get the reef drake f2 to actually hit someone then I tip my hat to you. Just go spiders and watch as they do hit someone.
