I recently started playing a ranger and really enjoy how the sword+dagger/Short bow combo for the constant in and out fighting style of it. I understand that the sword is less than ideal because of the root, so the axe can be replaced for it but I really prefer the sword. Basically the idea is to jump in, dump poisons/conditions with sword 3 and dagger 4, while evading with those skills as well, dag 5 for bleed. Then switch to shortbow and point blank SB2 for max poison stacks, then SB3/ Lightning Reflexes out SB4/5 and position for bleed stacks.

That is what I put together quickly and I may be completely off on my build, I am just trying to get ideas. I sacrificed power as a main stat and picked up ferocity in hopes that the crits will make up for the lack of power. I think I may have to pick up more toughness/vitality or risk being to squishy to make full use of this build. This build is for PvE mostly

Condition damage and defensive stats are never ideal for PvE. Ranged pets are not good and birds are mediocre at best.

You will do about half the damage of a properly geared PvE ranger in exchange for marginally more survivability, and condition damage. Neither of these are favoroable trades in PvE.
