I put together a decent Sylvari condi ranger build, I’ve primarily been testing it in fractals and it seems to be working fine, but I feel like it’s missing something.

I’m also very confused as to which Elite I should be using. They all seem pretty weak…

Greatsword is there because I don’t want to be without that AOE damage during the points where you stack instead of just going ham, Also both my GS and SB are the Sunless weapons so why not

PS: If you intend on crying over the choices I make with -my- game, don’t. I’m not looking for zerker elitists to come here and tell me what I should and should not be doing, i’m looking for advice for -this- build.

Advice:

Don’t ask for advices if you’re not willing to take them.

Precision is not that awesome as a Mainstat, even if you get bleeds from critical hits since you lack crit damage. The new LS gives the opportunity to craft Condition/Power/Precision which I think is superior in your case, maybe just armor or trinkets. Depends on what gear you already have and If you want to go ascended.

Anyway, if you play condi in pve you should go for 100% bleed duration. Coi Cake is a must have. A giver shortbow (+20% condi duration) is also nice and since gs doesn’t deals condi dmg I’d get berserker there. Superior sigil of earth is better than torment. Whats your average amount of bleed stacks on a target you can flank?

But your build looks a lot more like a hybrid build thatn a condi build to me.

I think your condition damage is a little low for what you are trying to do. Maybe that is what is missing. I use something like this when I feel I am getting bored with meta. I think you base condition damage should be around 1,900.

Fight in the stack and blast/leap finish your fire field. Use birds to add 10 stacks of bleeding and release splitblade at PB range. I actually use sinister trinkets but the editor is not up to date. Enjoy!

Replacing rampager gear with sinister gear will improve your damage output, or condition output rather. The precision from rampager isn’t needed.

I would swap out the greatsword with an axe and an off-hand of your choice. A torch for burning instead of a fire trap frees up an utility slot. Getting an axe would also give you the option to go for the Honed Axes trait as your build is pretty hybrid already. Which is a good thing. Might stacking will boost both your direct damage and condi damage, same goes for the warrior banners.

Replacing Shared Anguish with Wilderless Knowledge for a shorter cooldown on Entangle is a no-brainer. Or even Strength of Spirit in Nature Magic for more direct damage.

Condi is mainly for pvp, its terrible in pve because even if you do massive condi damage, your stack will be replaced near instantly by someone who isnt specced in condi. Everyone has skills that inflict burning, bleed or poison, they’ll override you. Not to mention the bleed cap. So in reality you’ll be lucky to get 2,3 ticks of your own condi dmg on the boss. This is not ‘berserker elitism’, just how the game mechanics work.

But of course, if you want to be a dead weight to your party and reinforce the stereotype that rangers are useless, go ahead. There is a place for condi ranger, its just not in party pve.

P.S ditch the greatsword, it sucks for condi. Axe/torch or Axe/dagger or Axe/horn is way better. Also 1k condi is too low.

I like this post, people do the opposite of what you asked them not to do…such is the way of forums eh?

Anyways. First i would say that it kind of sucks that you have to go so far into the precision trait line to get the trap traits, but with the way you got it set up with the power, precision and condi damage, id say your on the right track, but if your looking for more condition damage or at least you feel like your not doing enough, there might be other ways to do it.

For example, maybe do something other than traps. Signet of stone is nice. It will help you get more bleeds. Also if you dont use traps you can put those prec points else where.

Id probably do something more like this.:

However i feel that healing spring is still a better option and aslo note that using spirits can sometimes be…not fun. Placement is key and also when you moving from spot to spot to spot, its kind of worthless cause they last for 60 secs and its 20 secs cd AFTER they die.

As always you can tweak this to your liking, but as others have said, condi’s are not the best in fractals/dungeons. however if your running with guildies/friends you can pretty much do what you want. Not everyone need to clear a dungeon in 30 secs

And i feel this really boost your condition damage/duration without having to rely on crits or traps.

The pets i chose because thier F2 abilities are conditions and tehy are ranged. Just keep them on passive and have them fire from ranged. Or feel free to send them into the fight if you can keep them alive.

Edit: As someone else said, axe/torch would be good rather than the great sword, but you have it so…yea keep it if you wish.

It’s like asking for advice on the best way to steal credit card numbers from people who took out payday loans, then getting angry when people suggest you don’t do it at all.
