Eura,

congrats on representing the Rangers with The Dankening
http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/612933486

Looking back, do you still feel that the 662 LB/GS was best choice against The Abjured or would 606 or 6006 LB/ s/x offered a better choice.

Watching you and Supcutie… a lot of synergy potential there. I’m looking forward to seeing as you two get comfortable with each other.

1 Question. @1:10:08 you and rocketry did a PBS->Mag Pull-> Rapid Fire on Zoose which blew him up. Was that a “Called Out” Nuke or did Rocketry just happen to do Mag Pull during your combo?

That was our first time playing together and I think that was just a moment where I was trying to pressure Zoose and our engi (being awesome) took note and pulled Zoose back to make sure we got the finish.

I think mesmer and ranger have a lot of potential. I have played a lot with Zeromis (another great mesmer on NA) and we have pulled off some crazy 2 v 2s with mesmer and ranger synergy with both power + shatter and also condi + support mesmer. So I’m really looking forward to seeing what I can do with Supcutie as well as the rest of The Dankening.

Was 6/6/2 vs the Abjured a good choice? To be honest, no. But… there isn’t anything that is good vs the Abjured. The sustain of double d/d ele and a good engi coupled with the snowball effect of Noscoc and the annoying presence of a s/d makes things rough. We cannot kill their eles because they have soo much sustain and can rotate 1 our for the other. We cannot kill Chaith because the eles rez him and then just heal up + shadow refuge. We cannot kill Toker because he can just evade spam and run. That leaves our best choice to kill Noscoc who can just eat our damage and always run. If he has to, he can plague. So we can’t really kill him either. You can see that we go toe to toe with them in fights. Often getting their guys down. However, the training potential of s/d and the sustain of the eles was not something we were prepared for (and don’t know if can be prepared for, can’t wait for that little balance update next week). So in the end, could a different ranger build be more effective? Maybe. I mean, I did my job, I pressured Nos out of most fights. However, I think we could have played better as a team but that was to be expected when we had been a team with a couple hours of practice vs a team that has 6 months.

I might be making tweaks to what I was using as I grow with my team but until such time I will continue to play what I like, the best that I can, and will constantly try to improve at it. I encourage others to do the same.

I agree, there was a lot to look forward to with The Dankening. The thing that I thought was most telling was, you guys had a better Shot Caller than DoD. Pulling everyone back to home when you were about to far cap was gutsy and turned the game in your favor. /tiphat to whoever made that call.

Best match to watch was you and DoD. Watching Abjured is not as fun. Not knocking those guys, they have put in the practice. It’s just watching Cele Ele right now is bleh.

Watching DoD and Dankening try new stuff was fun to watch.

Yeah that was a great call. We didn’t have enough damage to finish them off without me in the fight and I was at far trying to pull off my usual lone wolf antics. That regroup was huge and allowed us to snowball back through the map and have a huge comeback. Hopefully we can iron things out a bit so we don’t have to overcome a -200 point deficit in the future haha.

I wanna see the same fight again after the balance patch, the eles are really ridiculous. That sustain tho. Nice job doing pressure against that Necro.

One question tho Eura, There are a lot of times that you do not recall your pet, and it dies, yes there are aoes that kill them, but sometimes I just don’t see you calling them back.( When you’re retreating).

I’m looking forward to more top tiered fights with you on the lineup, #rangerpride. I do agree on the Mesmer/Ranger Synergy, I also had that same feeling last game, its not even about the burst, people tend to neglect the ranger so much and they are caught off guard by that RF when facing the mesmer.

Good Job I must say. The only downside our class has right now is what would you do against those super sustain classes? Really, I wanna see The Abjured VS The Dankening after the balance patch, Altho it affects 3 members on your team too.

PS: Can you tell Grouch to go over the builds, they often skip your ranger and proceed to spectate to highlight your teammates builds.

My pets RARELY dies. However, against The Abjured I believe they were actually swapping to kill my pet either maliciously or as a ploy to remove my condi clear. Either way, I probably could have called my pet back, but most of the time the pet just chills in the AoE and walks back when that happens. If I left my pet in there during our retreat it was in the vain hope of trying to get a cripple, kd, or howl off to slow them down while we escaped. In those cases, I am purposefully leaving my pet behind so that we can get out.

Against a team like The Abjured, the best thing I could probably do is try to go condi ranger and attempt to do 2v2s against them or something in order to try to deal with their sustain. As it stands, the ranger is a poor match up vs such a strong team and such a strong team comp, I’m praying to the balance gods that the update next week is enough to bring some counterplay back to those classes so that we can have a truly fair chance vs them.

I’ll see what I can tell Grouch, I think they skip over my build because I have generally been running the same thing for awhile (probably even about three months before the RF change) and they probably showed it earlier in the vod during our first match (if you only watched the finals).
