I am curious tho, would a condi/CC build worked better?

I mean, I know how hard it is to land GS maul burst with this Blind spam/mesmer meta.

Basically, engi would have been better for condi cc with FT/TK imo , no matter what you could do with ranger, another class does better.

I don’t agree. i think engies are in a worse spot. and any necro build other than signets, but that doesn’t matter cuz everyone is running the exceptionally strong signet cele build.

it’s interesting how nos refused to give the ranger props. not sure if annoyed or just skeptical. i ran into his ranger quite a few times in spvp and never thought much of him. my opinion is that marauder builds aren’t particularly strong, but it worked so good on them. definitely nice to see more rangers out there.

Figured you talking about condition/bunker which just as much cc and far better survival. Traps aren’t bad but honestly you get wrecked in team fights, i’ve tried so many different versions also they have no mobility so if your back point good luck rotating.

I say this with the utmost repsect for all of Abjured, but other than Phantaram and Toker, they are a bunch of petty children. That goes for 99% of all the top players, and it makes sense since most of them are in their late teens – early 20s.

FANTASTIC video gamers and complete children. Look at the pure amount of rage quit you see from these guys even while being broadcast.

Look, I don’t want to have to be the one to call out the elephant in the room but this threads getting along in posts now and everyone else seems to be turning a blind eye.

So come on guys, I think it’s pretty fair and obvious callout. Ranger’s OP and needs a nerf.

We were discussing this, but same lol.

Literally the only difference is I take Natural over Wilting in BM, but I have a bad habit of cancel casting my F2s since Eurantien talked about the way it works (not that he’s the first to find it for whoever would like to make that stake, you get full credit lol but I heard it from Eura first).

I swapped my Drakehound to Owl though (I run owl/wolf now) so I’m trying to be better hahaha.

Yes, and considering its a premade team comp he took the res trait, which is amazing because you can res someone within 2 secodns with the pet help and ZSpeed.

This build is a utility box. You can survive both conditions and power spikes due to WS training, bark skin, protective ward. You have good mobility with GS and traveler runes. Your dps is solid with the marauder amulet and Longbow and you got a low CD knockback.

And your res capabilities are pretty amazing especially for 2v2s. I dislike BWarden, I find Zephyr swap better due to added utility for stealth stomps and especially on ToSStorm. Quickness channels are awesome.

Ah, I use BW for guaranteeing damage on my own, and I’d say it becomes even more invaluable with a premade team on VoIP where you can call out Taunted targets. Its essentially rangers version of the Guardian Ring (or in a more general sense, its why people were taking Guardians in the last meta).

Fun note by the way, if the Search and Rescue is available from the trait, you can do neat tricks like getting the trait to activate to rez an ally then cancel your own rez and continue doing damage, secure a stomp, or begin a rotation, or etc.

Just a fun, creative little way to utilize the trait hahaha.

Also, had to facepalm a little when they were talking about the Trav Runes and asuming the swiftness from LB #3 is applied to the ranger. Just goes to show often ranger is seen in top matches these days when the casters don’t even know how certain skills of the class work.

Honestly in retrospect, thinking about it right now, I don’t know why I don’t just run 2 handed training lol.

Conceptually its because it would make the pet tankier. I didn’t actually know that it was bugged (or how ANet even managed to bug it -.-) so that’s on me. Never actually bothered to pay attention to it, just figured “same trait, different day.”

Thanks for making me aware. I probably already should have been but I’m not honestly taking the state of the game too seriously right now (fun fact, double longbow with quickdraw in the Silverwastes means barrage on a permanent 9 second cooldown, so PvE tag everything lol).

I know why Hiro (talgo) runs wilting though, its his pet choice and lack of ICDs, and I should probably be doing the same.

Edit to respond to edit: Yeah, the casting that goes on with ranger has always been facepalm worthy. I hate DPS too, although they wormed their way into being a competitive event manager, because they aren’t exactly respectful or even well versed at the game. But yeah, Hiro got called a Bearbow and then a flood of unintelligible misinformation proceeded to spew forth from the casters mouth, and normally that would be me just writing it off as “this guys an idiot” and that would be the end of it, except the entire “top PvP” community doesn’t have a clue about rangers and what they do. Every popular streamer, Chaith, Phanta, etc, zero idea. Phanta actually has a ranger he copied the suboptimal Metabattle page onto and played for a few seconds before going “ranger is terrible, I don’t know how to do this” and swapped to ele.

It is very frustrating, while also motivating in a very rage oriented sort of way, for the fommunity to be this way about ANY class, let alone a person’s main.

I remember when they announced necro and they said he would be the hardest caster to bring down.

And then you look at these videos and almost certainly the necro is the first target to go down, while thieves and eles and mesmers just port around happily and heal up even better.

Read through the compiled ranger bugs list on the bug forum. It’s helpful to avoid the bad bugs.

Shows how much of a joke rangers are, just listening to the casters. At one point, Storm says “you’ve got to give it to him [the ranger]” and then there’s just silence from Nos. And just before that storm said “…proving ranger is viable… probably not”

Well the casters are tools themselves, seriously they are. Any other game they would be trash tier level, but not gw2. So sad.

The reason I love Beastly Warden so much is partly because i can call a target and burst with a well timed taunt, but there is more to it. If let’s say you are out of breakstuns, taunt can be a life saver especially with the wolf taunt + fear combo. It’s also amazing versus thiefs using shadow refuge and mesmers trying to spike you down from stealth. Also is really good versus players using blocks like engi’s Gear Shield and guardians.

You need to swap your pet for the quickness. Taunt is from the F2, which is something I like since I play with a DPS pet (Owl, Hawk) and a utility pet (Wolf). That’s personal preference, but I don’t like being forced to swap pets for quickness.

I love Zephyr’s Speed aswell, but in the end of the day the number of plays I can get out of Beastly Warden is just so good.

I have mates that take the trash talk they get in PvP to heart, I keep telling them it is populated by a bunch of teenagers who were barely in school when we started playing GW. lol

The ele was kittened because it was an obvious 1v1 in his favor and the necro got help from somebody else and it was perceived as weak.

Either way an ele whining about not being able to bully a necro 24/7 is priceless.

I know right he didn’t even die that much only when he was zerged down in 3vs1’s or port killed.

he did a great role of cap prevention on side nodes , held nodes but did not bunker nodes waited for +1 back up then leave the node head back to mid to +1 and prevention support so no more +1’s can reach his replacement bunker aka the Necro.

he played his role perfectly.

I was just quoting. Hiro did amazingly well in the tournament and actually showed that ranger ARE viable, at least in my opinion.

I’m still debating between taking Wilting Strike and Two-Handed Training in the Beastmastery line. The reason why I don’t take Two-Handed Training is I feel I don’t stay on greatsword for long enough to be an impactful trait, while I can use Wilting Strike whenever I want with the pet F2 for weakness. Weakness is really strong versus Zerker classes and the trait really helps against mesmers and thiefs, even if I am not using Hawk as my DPS pet for low F2 cd.

stick with Wilting strike , i find it much more Useful in the current Burst gameplay.

two-handed training is a much stronger choice if one favours GS use. sadly, I don’t think marauder builds really allow for GS to be a true offensive weapon. on my valk build, I do most of my damage with GS + bird. I also have more mobility, cleave and burst, and I can contest points better due to the lower CD’s. even getting -20% cd reduction on the defensive skills could be more worthwhile than wilting strike in certain situations, i.e. when you actually need to get out instead of fighting. but WS does work very nicely with the wolf though.

Yeah, nicely done mate.

I included your build in my build thread because it was effective and different enough from chokolata’s LB-S/D one that was similar.

It is in “Other PvP Builds” as there is not enough room in the PvP post.
