Just curious what everyone thinks are currently the most useful crafting disciplines on a ranger? I’m thinking either leatherworking/jeweler or leatherworking/huntsman.

Jewler is useless on any profession. Ascended jewelry from various sources is literally cheaper than crafting exotic jewelry.

Crafting is basically only useful if you want to main that armor class (thief, ranger, engi) for ascended, or if you just find it fun to make your own gear as you level. Otherwise you can get free gear from hearts, or just buy super cheap stuff off the trading post.

Also legendaries require certain crafting disciplines if you’re into that.

Jeweler is pretty useless, however it’s nice for turning T5 gems into T6 gems, and is required for a few items (IE Mawdrey), but even then I wouldn’t waste much time on it, if anything just throw it on an alt to have it.

Jeweler has its uses. Some jewelry aren’t available as ascended gear. Even those that are it best to test with exotic before you make the ascended investment.

Weapons, for the most part are easy to obtain and once you have a legendary weapon other than issues with sigils you wont be in great need.

Leather crafting and /jeweler seems the way to go.

i’ve got Leatherworking, huntsman, swordsman,Artificer(needed for nevermore and some other bits) i think thats all you’ll need on a ranger.

Cooking if you’re into wvw. For some stupid reason there are foods you can only get by crafting.

I gotta tell you, if you wanna wanna get the The Dreamer (Legendary Shortbow) you need get jeweler to 400 for the unicorn statue.

Level whatever crafting skill on whatever profession you like, eventually you will max out each crafting skill between your characters and it will just be a matter of switching to that character

As others have said you really dont need to level crafting at all, I mostly do it to about 400 just for the XP for the free levels sometimes.

But if you want Viper Gear you may need to level it as I never find it on the AH. Berserker though is quote common.

I went leather working & huntsman on my ranger as I had planned on making ascended armor & weapons for it at some point.

level all crafting skills on 1 toon, i wish i had, it’s super cheap to swap between them.

You need to personally craft all HoT stat combos as they come account bound on acquire, soulbound on use (for exotics) by default.
