Katniss Shade – Necromancer 80 – sPvp rank – 29
Emma Wolfsbane – Thief 80 – Looking for Guild
Hey there! I currently have a 80 elementalist, 61 Mesmer, 24 Necromancer and 26 Engineer and I am not really happy with any of them. I wanted to start a new class. I’ve dabbled with everything but warrior in sPvp and nothing really sticks. I don’t really know what I want to do, ie ranged combat, melee, tanking, roleplaying, casting, pve, pvp, wvw but I’m currently stuck with guild wars as my only gaming outlet at the moment. I’m highly unmotivated to create another class after the long dredge of getting elementalist to 80 and I’m extremely fickle when it comes to picking which class. I was wondering if you ranger enthusiasts could motivate me to create a ranger with success stories, videos, screenshots of armor, experiences or anything that really makes ranger stand out. Please keep any negativity and unhelpful replies out of this topic. Thanks!
if you can’t decide. Try the other classes. You can create a newbie toon then go to the sPvP training areas and see what it feels like at lvl 80.
I know what you mean by the lvl 80 leveling burnout and i’m really angry at the Shortbow nerf for the Ranger. (which Anet claims isn’t a nerf but an animation fix. Big boo boo there if so)
@Auria: Perhaps there are more than one class I’m not sure if I want to play or not. I’m not asking anyone to ‘deside’ for me, I’m asking them to motivate me. If you don’t want to do that then please don’t post in this thread. There are plenty others.
@Ninja: I’ve done that, but nothing is really sticking for me. Perhaps if I see what motivates other people to stick with their class I’ll get motivated as well.
Please keep any negativity and unhelpful replies out of this topic. Thanks!
Coming from the #1 Troll on these forums, this is priceless.

Who is the troll now Wulfrim?
What do you mean ‘stuck with Guild Wars 2 as your only gaming outlet’? There are plenty of fantastic cheap games out there. I don’t understand why you are forcing yourself to play this game if you can’t truly enjoy it?
The greatest motivation for playing a Ranger should really be the pet. The pet can do things like chase your opponent all over the map, and can often get behind enemy lines in Worlds PvP as well, because everyone ignores the pet until it starts dealing damage to them. Next to that the Ranger is pretty versatile, and can do a bit of everything. They also have a pretty big choice of weapons.
So you don’t even have a Ranger but you are tying to tell us that the Ranger is not currently in a horrible state?
Classic…
@Wulfrim
I wrote a long response on your Necromancer thread (but looks like it was removed while I was typing). Anyways I’ll skip all the stuff I wrote about the classes I’ve played and get to what I think is the heart of the issue. One of my biggest problem with this game is that I don’t feel very unique (with any class) because it doesn’t feel like there’s very many viable builds. Most set of skills are predetermined for us (e.g., weapons) which we use most of the time or otherwise, the viable skills are quite limited. Even with the Ranger, there’s a very few # of pets that are actually worthwhile to use. As a result, I’m not very attached to any of my characters (because of the lack of uniqueness).
Since you’re mainly referring to Pve, I think part of your problem (or at least my problem) is that this game is missing the fun aspect of fleshing out your character (to be unique) through leveling up.
Note: I still find it fun to try out new builds in sPvp when I think of one. But it still doesn’t feel very unique. And I hardly ever play with the exact same build over and over.
I would not suggest rolling to a ranger. It’s likely it is the worst class in the game now after the nerf.
I’ve taken Ranger, Warrior, Thief and Elementalist to 80 and Guardian to 65.
Since you haven’t tried one yet I’d say give Warrior a shot. Good melee, good ranged, and it can take a hit without vaporizing. Mine is set up to be very tanky at the moment and it’s quite satisfying to run through Orr without caring how many adds you pick up.
It’s about as far from your ele experience as you can get which is why I recommend it.
