Ranger needs some more variation with mainhand weapons. Sword and Axe aren’t enough, about as simple as that.
I would suggest pistol or mace but I enjoy the hunter theme that the profession has and think it would be best to stick to that. So, mainhand dagger seems reasonable and would allow the profession for more build diversity albeit not a whole lot more than what we currently have access to, but still more.
Thoughts?
Agreed, I’d love a dagger mainhand. I’d hope it would be a condition based weapon (axe and swords autoattack are power despite having condition based secondary attacks)
Maybe:
1- Slice, apply vulnerability > Stab, apply 1 stack of bleed > Lacerate, apply 2 stacks of bleed
2- Sweep the leg, cripple and torment foe
3- Apply mud, apply mud to your body, curing one condition and granting stealth for 2 seconds.
I personally would love to see dagger as a Mainhand weapon and would want it to be hybrid damage… My thoughts were something along the lines of…
1) Wild Strike (bleeding) —> Fox Fangs (more bleeding) --—> Phoenix Strike (if enemy is burning strip a boon and hit nearby enemies)
2) Falling Spider (Poison and stealth) —-→ Leaping Mantis (leap at target evading as you do so, if done from stealth cripples and vulns)
3) Ox Horns (Evade forward and knock them down if crippled, otherwise it cripples) —→ Trampling Ox (Charge through your target so you face their flank, striking them, if they’re knocked down you deal a ton of damage and bleed, probably 5 stacks.)
That’s my dream weapon for dagger… Idk how likely it’d be though…
