Damage nerf is not THE problem
Even at 2000 units that’s enough distance for you to break combat (therefore regen all hp lost and being able to catch up to people) while your pet keeps someone in combat. It was fun having 5000 units but I don’t think this is going to make that great of a distance.
yes, I though these changes were here to offer us more build versatility, at least that’s what they said.
I must be honest, at first I was more preoccupied by the pet nerf more than the sb range one, I though it was not a big deal since I use it essentially at close range but yesterday when I was in wvw I counted the number of times I used it to hit a foe that won’t be in range anymore after the patch and there’s a lot (a typical example is when a dude is running away).
I never ever whined on the forum for the nerf we got, even for the “glitch animation” one but this one will definitely force me to change the way I like to play my ranger and this is not what I call having more versatility.
To be honest I really wonder what’s the point of using the shortbow now. If only they would have made it inflict bleed even when you’re in front of foes it’d been a different story.
Well, we will see Tuesday how we can handle this.

projectile just dont stop once they reach thier max ranges. they continue to travel. You just have to press the button as auto attack wont work once they are out of range.
The range neft may not be that bad.
Range isnt the only factor for picking a weapon.
everyone should fear becoming mentally clouded and obsessed with one small section of truth.

SBI that explains it entirely. You are a zerg aombie, you know nothing about what the OP is talking about.

? How would you break combat at 2000 if you have your pet attacking? for me I’m kept in combat aslong as I let my pet attack, or am I missing something?
In a game with no dedicated healers, ultimately, damage is everything. Lack of damage is the problem. It has been the problem since we were nerfed to the ground right after beta. Yes, we can hold our own in sPvP, or small-time roaming in WvW. But no one cares about that. When people pick someone for a dungeon, WvW, or even a guild, they want a broad range of group utilities and damage. Not a pet that spoils the party due to bad AI. Because that’s our image right now. People don’t want rangers. Are those people stupid and narrow-minded for it? Yes and no. Anet does not give us the tools to shine, so only a few of us do well due to skill and dedication. The majority of rangers show the nay-sayers they are mostly right, that rangers bring nothing that other classes can’t do better. Rather, due to the wonky pet, rangers may be a liability, so better not run that risk. Do I agree with that attitude? No, but I see it spreading around me, like a bad virus. We need a cure, not fuel to the fire. People were very slowly taking pets, our class mechanic, seriously; now those pets will just be reduced back to the silly little mosquito that could be ignored. The only thing that could justify these nerfs is a 50% damage boost to the ranger across the board. The rest will simply kill off the remaining ranger player base.

In PVE and dungeons DPS is king. I feel bad for taking my ranger into dungeons after having my warrior now because I know how much better runs could go if I would have brought my warrior instead of ranger. Any damage nerf hurts bad when you don’t put out that much in the first place. The leash thing ain’t no big deal in PVE. Certainly not in dungeons. I face palm when I see a ranger bring a longbow into a dungeon. SB is much better (#1), And it can interrupt without knocking the npc out of allies melee range. Which, in case you don’t know, ticks off everyone else when we #4 on LB.
As far as I am concerned if these notes ring true rangers (should be called beastmasters) are getting a sizable DPS nerf.
