Damage switch.
We already do more damage than our pets unless. Unless you spec into your pet. But you cant compare that damage to what the ranger is doing at that time. That’s like comparing tank dps vs zerker dps. Full zerker vs Full Bm pet the ranger does more damage.
One of the problem with pets is that people feel pets are on auto pilot. If pets AI were perfect it would be OP. I kind of agree.
I came up with a thought and it may sound a bit crazy and I haven’t work the specifics out but what if we had a f5 skill for now lets call it Commune.
What Commune would do is switch the consciousness of the Ranger and the pet. The player would be in the pet and be able to use that pets skills kind of like when a player gets moa’ed (problem the is normal pet skills have a long recharge but skill could be addaed like the mesmers skills).
Pet would use AI from say bandits. I don’t know how long this would last or how long the cd if any there would be. But the player should be able to end it when they want.
If the player dies while he is communing he then goes back to his body and the pet is dies. The pet should be downed before death and if the pet is defeated while in the players form it acts as normal with the pet and the player both being defeat.
It would give more of a sense that the pet and the player are one. I know it sounds totally crazy but on some levels I think it could work without being totally op.
It would confuses players as to who is the real threat like Mesmer and kind of have an extra health bar like necros if the pet is killed first.
The specific would need to be worked out. And in a way it would be damage switch.

Im not doing 3-5ks with great sword tho, that should be our most damaging weapon. ._. Melee damage is lacking and the Longbow for ranger, if im not critting with a power build on rapid fire, my damage is completely weak.
I like that idea, something similar to WoW Hunters when they can link with there pets without that dieing mechanic. Id rather not die if my pet gets stomped due to them already dieing fast if there not a bear or devourer. Then them having down skills is another thing.
Also, i would like to approve of more of a link with our pets in any case, damage, support and stuff. Especially with field combos and such. Pets with elemental nature should all be able to drop a combo field juss for that added support, id like that over alot of there f2 abilities which some seem to be useless or juss copies of another pet.
