as a glass cannon ranger with RaO, you dont need that much stunbreaker and that build is extremely risky vs thieves. you need to get signet of beastmastery and equip signet of stone. by doing this, it will help you negate a thief’s burst and play offensively without taking any direct damage for 6 seconds. i’m not really a big fan of GS, that weapon is extremely slow and you need to be really close to your enemy that can be very dangerous. i suggest using shortbow instead, that weapon may be weak when it comes to direct damage but it has evade, stun/daze, poison, cripple and it is fast. shortbow is a warrior and thief’s bane. you can use it defensively and offensively at the same time. just use qz to burst its damage.

btw, dont use RaO at the start of the fight, the thief will only steal your boons. use your longbow 1st, try to stealth 1st then hit him with the knockback arrow and then rapid fire. as soon as he stealths try to AOE arrows around you after a couple of seconds because he will surely try to backstab you. a d/p thief is usually the easiest class to kill on a zerk ranger.

How does Quick Draw help this build? …and aren’t all pets beasts?

Sick em is meh honestly, in my thief it’s never been that big of a deal to have used on me. With the huge flux of acro based s/d thieves which is all too common in pvp, is reveal means nothing.

when u want to Play power i suggest a 6/0/2/6/0 build on berserk with LB
u dont even Need to Change the rest of ur build, just the traits.
use the NM line for more survivability and u can Play better against condis
thiefes work with blind and poison, evasive purity helps, they stun u with their poison elite? use SotF and LR and start to Counter them with ur fury. and with natures protection u can survive the first burst easier.

I have less defenses and can beat theives.

How?

The trick with bows is to stand still. It’s a horrible feeling to get used to but if you’re moving and a theif jumps behind you, your skills cancell and/or miss and go on cooldown.

You simply control the fight while standing still when using bows.

This is really interesting. You should swap out Signet of the Hunt for Sic’ Em. This will make your pet hit harder and also applies revealed through blind. The key to beating thieves is watching their animations. When you see black powder drop, you need to immediately hit Sic’ Em. When Shadow Refuge goes down start channeling Point-Blank shot. I also suggest sword over greatsword as it makes it near impossible for a thief to backstab you. Just spamming 1 while they’re in stealth will send you flying when you make contact, causing them to spend more time repositioning. Thieves should be very little trouble for you as a ranger.

Heh. Try a bird out for size. Even experienced thieves will have a hard time getting a CnD off on them, and NO thief is going to run offhand dagger in tPvP, unless they’re running an evasion build, in which case you shouldn’t be worried about them stealthing as much as their boon rip and damage mitigation abilities.

Yes, LB #3 (if you decide to use LB) then following with a heal while you are stealthed is extremely effective. Hunter’s Shot has a lot of utility so practice using it to get surprise attacks, make quick get aways and heal without fear of being interrupted. Also remember not to back pedal! Constantly backing up makes you an easy target for backstabs. Move forwards and in circles and make it difficult for the thief to land a backstab.
