To get this out of the way: We want more control over our pets, and you guys already know that. Ideally we could hot-key several of their skills. Moving on.
Since the smoke scale got changed so quickly, I thought maybe this suggestion would not entirely break the code. It would be a massive QoL improvement if we could select which skill other than autoattack is used on the F2. This shouldn’t cause any balance issues, since taunt has a CD and birds already have a very fast recharging F2.
Some examples of why this would help:
- Smoke scale fiasco.
- Birds. If you’re a beastmaster you probably want lacerating slash as the F2. In most other situations you want to control the use of quickening screech.
- Drakes. I would rather control the blast finisher tail swipe than lightning breath. In most cases, the utility of a pet is more important to control than a damage skill.
- Bears. A WvW zerg ranger might prefer to control defy pain instead of poisonous maul or etc.
- Moas. Red and blue moas might be better off controlling harmonic cry.
- And so on. Shark fear, jellyfish field, fern hound knock down, spider immob instead of weakness, etc. etc. etc.
This would be an excellent baby step to giving us more pet control, and would make pets incredibly more flexible.
