Do you use the signet actives?
Northern Shiverpeaks
I use them to boost my pet’s damage, but I also run BM and am a newb…. so take that with salt grains.
I use signet of renewal’s active pretty often when too many conditions pile on me at once. Make sure to swap out your pet immediately afterward if you do though or else it might die… then you’d really be in trouble.

Still running my old RRR build because why not
I use the actives. I don’t run full BM. I tried to wean off of it, and found 15 suits my playstyle fine. If I could kick it to zero, I would (and am playing with how).
Signet of the Hunt’s active is fantastic, especially with the shorter CD. You can preload it, as the buff sits on your pet for 16 minutes. It has a short CD, so I can get it off several times per fight (I like to pull crazy pulls with little to no out of combat window). I like it all around for open world PvE. PvP it’s less enjoyable, and not needed at all in dungeons.
Signet of the Wild is great, too. The regen is nice and at 80 running half in Cleric’s gear, ticks heavily on my pet. I use the active when fights are going well.
Signet of Renewal is nice if you don’t run with/don’t want to burn Healing Spring and don’t have Empathic Bond. As Faux said, pop n’ swap and it’s beautiful.
Signet of Stone will be a lifesaver in every game mode. Six seconds of invincibility for your pet on active? Especially if you don’t run BM for faster swap cooldowns, this can buy you time in a bad situation. The added toughness is just gravy.
Try them out. They have more reasonable cooldowns now that are pretty quick with GW2s combat pacing.
Hunt often but with specific pets,
Stone sometimes,
Wild never.
I use SotW to burst down a target with my cat. It works great.
Signet of the Hunt gets used
Signet of the wild never.. ..
But i’m not a Signet Power build, i’m BM Bunker.
The new Great Sword power builds for example use Signet Actives

I run Wild, Hunt, and Stone, and use them all regularly. I’m specced for signets to affect me, however, and utilize them to increase my damage and survivability. With a GS as 2/3 knight’s, 1/3 zerker, I can pop Wild&Hunt and Maul most targets for 6-10k (depending on their setup). Works wonders when timed correctly.
I use signet actives all the time, with signet of beastmaster. Stone, wild, renewal, are all good. Hunt is pretty weak, you can get the same effect out of any interrupt with MoC or just casting GS5 into thin air (afects pet only though). Its only real advantage is that you can cast it quite a bit before initiating combat.

I love Hunt! Run speed is amazing and 50% more damage on two mauls in a row (should I time an interrupt right) can kill anyone who isn’t bunker specced, and put a significant dent into anyone who is! Extra 50% on my pet’s next attack isn’t bad either (Can do one for Wolf Leap and one for Bird F2!)
I run a signet sharing cleric/knight GS/SB power hybrid and signet of stone has been my “Oh kitten” button for quite some time now. SoW is good when fighting hammer warriors and fear necros as well.
level 80 × 8 = 0 gold
I active Signet of the Wild together with Sic’Em, Rampage as One, Zephyr, and Jaguar’s 100% critical. He crits for 5k constantly and does at least 3 times my dps in total.
With 30 MM Signet of the Beastmaster I use them all the time. Even Signet of the Hunt can make a well placed Maul hit like a truck (activate right before it connects to decrease the chance that it will be wasted on a dodge).
Would still not use most of the for my pet only beside propably Signet of Stone andSignet of the Wild. I feel like Signet of the Hunt is pretty terrible on pets because most use split attacks that apply 2*x damage and only the first part will get the bonus. Also as some threads showed your pet not having swiftness for the next 20 seconds means a much higher disavantage usually in terms of DPS.
Renewel often..but the rest never
in pve i run with other spells and swap them often.
for pvp i see no reason to get 30 points their.
In my opinon and with my expirence i have to say they to weak
Some questions about signets:
If you go 30 points in marksman you can share the signets effect with your pet. Is it worth it? I didnt get for what is it good for? Ok, SotStone is obvious, bit SotH? Worth it?
Since I am a Beastmaster with 30 in BM I am not quite sure if there is a posibility to build arround signets and combine a signet/BM build. Never really seen it. Since BM’s dmg comes from the pet, I think signets would improve your char and your pet. Or is it simply not worth to spec for signets since you got 2 in every common BM build and lightning reflexes?
I use Signet of Stone and Signet of the Wild in my build, but without the grandmaster trait at 30 MM, I never use the actives.
If I had easier access to it, maybe at 20 BM or something, I’d use them constantly. Signet of the Wild + Quickening Zephyr, anyone?
I use Renewal and Hunt. Never pop them. It’s not that the passives are overly good, it’s just that actives and other utilities are so poor I may as well just run this…
I use both signet of the hunt and signet of the wild. Whenever I am fighting a veteran or higher and I know I don’t need the speed, I activate it to give my pet one stronger attack, but, really, just one attack? laughable.

Nope. I’m not traited for them. I use the passive movement speed and toughness increase signets, but thats it… and honestly I mostly use them when I’m farming and thats it.
Signet of the Wild + Quickening Zephyr, anyone?
This.
For PvE, I’m not sure if there’s a ranger burst that can compare to a trait-ed SoW+QZ on a shortbow ranger with zerk stuff on. I actually run this most of the time along with the piercing arrows trait and a fire sigil.
It’s like a Ranger on drugs with AoE.
For WvWvW, I just change the zerk stuff to cleric’s+knight’s and get a good enough crit chance (around 45%). Target the guy at the back of the zerg and make sure your arrows hit as many guys as possible. Watch how a group who tries to flank will back away from a small asura ranger.

What about SoW +Sic ‘Em + QZ + Rampage as One? Add in a Hilt Bash if you run GS. That’s a nice burst, no?
I started out going down the MM line because thats what I do in every videogame I play. I got to the end and saw that signent actives apply to me as well. Now i can pop stone for 6 seconds of no dammage. I can get stability and roughly a 20% dammage increase from wild, and not to mention that if i know that i dont need to run, i can pop hunt for a lot of burst, especially when combined with Wild. Also pro tip, you can cast wild, attack then pop hunt while your attack is in mid air for no dps loss from poping hunt.
Very occationally I use SoW active if I’ve been in a long fight with another bunker and need a burst to finish them.
Usually if I combine wolf howl+entangle+change pet to jaguar (for quickness)+F2+SoW+change to Axe/Dagger and then unload every wepaon ability I have.. That takes about 3 seconds to do and with any luck they will still be entangled with 20 stacks of bleeding and my Jaguar hitting 2-5k every second. That usually finishes people.
But liek I said, thats only if I’ve been in a battle a while and its clear noone is going to win if I dont try.

Very nice, but that’s a lot that has to go down at once. Though I do usually open Rampage as One with Quickening Zephyr…
I have been running stone on the bar, but it is kind of tricky to use. The long cool down means you only get to use it once per encounter and in my experience Guard This works much better. I am finding Guard is sufficient, so keep it just for the added toughness. It seems a shame to waste utility slots on stat increases. Too bad there is not some way to ‘gear’ pets to selectively enhance certain things like toughness or vitality.
The problem is the way pets seem to take damage so quickly when they do.
Generally if you pop this after their health hits less than 50% it’s too late, and unless you recall or swap out the pet, six seconds later, they will still be low on heath and taking damage again. 6 seconds is just too short. It may be ok for PVP but in PVE against Veterans or better it is not much use.
I only run that one signet and am questioning it’s value. Since they are a set rate they are stuck trying to not make them OP when equiped at low levels, but end up rather lackluster at level 80. At least thats how they appear to me. Other classes get a good deal of useful actions or boons out of utilities, and Rangers get these very brief boons, coupled with static and weak stat buffs. The speed boost only speeds up movement not attacks, so we can close a little better and run away better, which is just not that useful unless your kiting trash mobs that you don’t need to kite in the first place.

Snip.
SoW+QZ will burst for more with either GS or Sword than with shortbow. Probably even longbow. Remember quickness only gives you 133% attack speed on shortbow (is that number right, or is it 125%? Can’t remember).
IMO, SoW+SoH+QZ+Moment of Clarity with a Greatsword is the best burst a ranger can get in PvE right now. I reckon the strongest single attack chain is SOW, GS5 for interrupt / attack of opportunity, Maul, SoH before maul lands, LB3, LB4 for another interrupt, LB5, QZ as soon as you start channeling LB5, LB2. Can anyone come up with something better?

Does signet of the Hunt +25% movespeed work while in combat?
Yes, the actives have their uses. Perhaps not so much signet of the hunt, because I feel the loss of 25% movement is too bad compared to a one time increased damage attack.
But signet of the wild is GREAT in tpvp against bomb kit engis.
Stone is ok, depending on how you’re specd.
Renewal is ok, but I only activate it against necros, or when I know I’ll die from conditions unless they’re cleared.

I think I’ve clocked over 20k on some fire drake’s F2 attacks when I’ve used it. I prefer to keep it passive usually, since coupled with natural healing they can take an eyewatering beating.

Signet of the Hunt grants an “attack of opportunity.” Any interrupt, when taking moment of clarity grants an “attack of opprtunity.” The unfortunate thing is that one AoO will replace the other, so SoH active will not stack with the Hilt Bash interrupt.
Gotta agree with you on Shortbow and QZ not being a good combo. That set up lost it’s synergy well before the quickness nerf.

My bad, I was counting all the AoE damage from the piercing arrows and fire blast. All those flying numbers are really nice. I’m also not too good at melee (oceanic ping = 600ms) so going SB just decreases the chance of me missing the moving targets.
Alas, I’ve never experienced the pre quickness nerf shortbow. That would have been awesome.

I never use them. The reason being that I have no clue what they actually do. For instance a ranger has the signet of stone, which states: Your pet takes no damage from attacks. When I read that I go like: yes, for how long, 1 second, 2 seconds, what?
Or how about this one. Signet of the Wild: Your pets grows larger, dealing more damage and gaining stability. Again for how long, and how much more damage, what does the extra increase in size matter, is that cool? Stability is pretty cool I guess, but for how long.
I just use the passives, I can see how much of a stat gain I get from those, for the rest I don’t bother with them.

You have to check the wiki for the stats, like a lot of skills. Remember that with the trait Signet of the Beastmaster, all those effects apply to you as well as your pet.

Uhm, no, it’s supposed to be in the game. I’m not going to dig around to find out.
