Dodge as One
Honestly i’d really rather they just make pets take only 30% damage from aoe and cleave attacks rather than some secondary clunky dodge function that would be affected by things like pet skill delay.
This can’t be a trait. It’s a general survivability issue the class as a whole needs to function. The class is already forced 30 deep in a tree to make any use out of their skills. I can’t imagine forcing them XX deep in another tree being a good solution for build diversity.
They just need to change it so when the Ranger dodges or uses a skill that evades, the pet gains aegis with some kind of internal cooldown to help avoid abuse (since we have evade on GS auto attack for example).
They should just make it so whenever the ranger dodges, the pet evades all attacks for the same amount of time without interrupting any of its actions. They already have the system to apply this sort of thing, basically just give a buff to the pet that makes it evade all attacks for a second when the ranger dodge rolls, so it should be easy to implement. They could also do the same thing with the ranger’s greatsword if they wanted, adding an evade buff to the pet on the third hit of the auto-attack.
I also agree with Atherakhia; this needs to be available no matter to build you use, so it should be a default ability, not one unlocked via traits.

My only concern with allowing the pet to dodge instead of just granting aegis is there are scenarios where I may want to dodge, but I may not want to interrupt my pet from leaping on a foe or I may want to use its F2 ability. But if I lost this functionality in favor of my pet actually living? It’s a reasonable trade too.

They don’t need to make your pet literally dodge with an animation and everything, that would be too clunky and difficult to implement. All they need to do is apply it via a buff that is placed on your pet that makes all attacks against it “evaded” during the duration.
Or an idea I mentioned: change Prot on Dodge to Aegis on Dodge. You evade the big AoE hit, your pet shrugs it off. Same result, less of a code/animation dilemma.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior

Not sure what class you are playing. The best setup for ranger DPS is 20/25/0/25/0.
+10% when endurance is full
+150 precision = 7% crit chance team-wide
+30% Pet critical hits
+10% while flanking (attacking from side or back)
+5% with a boon
+5/10% from Sigil of Force or Dungeon Specific
+7% from Frost Spirit (CD is nerfed but in a speed run a fight shouldn’t really last that long, I believe the skill recharge is still bugged) team-wide
+10% from Scholar Runes
Sword auto-attack, Jaguar, Call of the Wild for Fury/Swiftness and Blasting. Off-hand is debatable but I like Shortbow because I can leap backwards if the need arises.
No 30 point here. I do however agree that generic pet viability shouldn’t be traited.

They just need to add the evade without thee dodge animation I think is easy, like a buff…
then again we are talking about Anet, you can expect the unexpected.
A dev alluded that this was op when they tested it before. So, I don’t think we will see it anytime soon if at all. I don’t think it could possibly be op but what can I do.
