Is it supposed to work when it’s dead? I’ve noticed it almost always works when my pet is alive but doesn’t when it’s dead.

I don’t think it’s supposed to, but that is what happens.

Best example I can give is the random present boxes. I’m not ashamed to say some of those toys beat the hell out of me if I don’t pay attention, and I especially lose my pets to the stupid Asura cube things when it gets hectic.

When I’m downed, if my arcturos or jaguar is alive, they run to me and don’t do anything. If they died “My pet!” around the time I died, and I can’t swap them, 3 will work. If I can swap to a living pet, it will not work.

Works fine for me…most of the times.

after they buffed it it works less

three times I’ve used it has worked. I’ve yet to trigger the just stand here and watch master die bug.

have the pets ever been hit with an interrupt? I wonder how many of them were this.

No, I’m pretty sure interrupts weren’t a factor in most of my situations.

I recently Tried in Tixx, it works for me more than 50% of the time a lot more like 90% but when it doesn’t work is in the most ridiculous situations, which starts with a bit of rage and ends with laughter.

For example once i was downed after i killed opponent, i didnt use 4 because i didnt want to interrupt it with 3 (plus pretty high death penalty) once i hit 3 my bear ran up to me but stood there….just watching me as i yelled WHAT ARE YOU DOING while holding 4 which made it look like i was holding my hand out to and unsympathetic bear who did care if i died or not.

While on the subject of this…can i please have the ability to revive my pet back during combat…please…i mean just cause why not…i dont know why it was taken out (stopped playing for awhile) but it would be cool if i had it back

I don’t care if it works 50%, 60% or 80% of the time. It’s bugged and needs to be fixed to work 100%. If that is not possible, remove the stupid thing and give us something more useful.

I have never had a problem with lick wounds. Then again, you all have probably tested it out WAY mopre than I have. I run a bunker build, so I rarely, if ever, get downed in PvE and in WvW you get stomped before it becomes available for use.

I never seemed to notice a provlem.
I just know that when the pet is dead, the pet goes vack to life and starts to rez. If it’s allive, it’ll run vack and it takes awhile to start the healing process.

Then again, my ranger went down mayve 2x in 2 months.

Seems to work 100% of the time under water, which is amusing because underwater the heal is broken and allows you to tank 2 players and the pet still heals even if they kill it.

Very hit or miss on land.

I have never had a problem with using LW, I have however used the skill only to have whatever downed me to down my pet again which stops my pet healing my obviously This might be the case for some of you, it takes time for the pet to cross the battlefield back to you and if it dies along the way you just have to wait on the recharge.

Ever since the patch I’ve yet to see it fail, same with S&R..

PS: I know I’m just on a luck streak, especially seeing as how the week before the patch it didn’t work PERIOD, not once, was totally BS.

However i did experienced OP healing underwater. Attacking, i had an easy time ,as soon as i realised what was happening: I just killed the pet then the ranger.
While downed myself I used that to my benefit and i managed to rally and killed 2 players. Obviously they did not think about killing my pet. But it should not be possible. It does not make sense that you are in a better position to do a 2 vs 1, when you are down…

On earth, it works quite well using a wolf: stun> fear> lick wound + self heal. There is a reasonable chance that you will heal yourself before enemy is back from fear.

I think Lick Wounds actually has a better chance at working properly when your pet is downed; because he’s standing right next to you. Usually Lick Wounds seems to fail if the pet is still alive as it will run to you and then just stand there watching you die.

To contribute to the thread I have never had any problems with it, if the pet is dead it rezzes it to save me, if not it just stops what it’s doing and rushes over.

If anything I think it’s overpowered underwater, I used lick wounds once I got downed in a 3v1 near the quaggans in WvW, and the lick wounds healing me for more than they could hit me for. I actually managed to self rez while being beaten on by 3 players.

I don’t see it as a bug, it makes sense that if your pet is dead or not, if it gets killed while trying to res you then it is logical that it would stop ressing you. If the pet was invincible during this time the skill would be considered OP, as the poster above said underwater he took on 3 while downed so imagine if that pet was invincible too?

As I said earlier, the pet is half way across the battlefield, good chance he will die on his way over so calling your pet back or waiting till he dies makes no difference. Also LW resses your pet if he is dead so it makes no difference whether or not you have called him back so long as he is alive while ressing you.

As far as I can see, this skill is not bugged and players are just not focusing on when their pet dies.

Nah it’s fine underwater, you were just fighting people that were either 1 trick burst ponies or had no damage. And either way, people have been kittening and moaning about Warriors Vengeance for a while now and that hasn’t been nerfed so i doubt our Lick Wounds will be.

seems to work with some pets and not with others. I can’t for the life of me get my pig to do it.

Working as intended. Same with “Search and Rescue” – even if pet is downed (they don’t really die – ever), they can still use these abilities. This was even stated by a dev, but now I can’t find that post.

If they take away that ability, downed skill 3 will be utterly useless, as will Search and Rescue, a skill which I’d say is almost exclusively used in dungeons – 9 times out of 10, my pet are in downed state or soon will be, when sent in for a search and rescue attempt.

Lick wounds and search and rescue were both horribly bad before the last patch, now they both work decently, when they work (they are both buggy as hell).

Add a stomp-like ability underwater – problem solved, without nerfing these skills back to their previous useless state.

It works for me 100% of the time,until my pet gets interrupted.
Alive,dead,or knocked around*. (Dead and knocked around might be a glitch)
