The spotter trait affects you too. It just wont activate till you’re in combat.

I just made another zerg build based around this. The added precision allowed me to go full up markmanship gaining a net of 300+ power (with a little bit more from gear) while still maintaining my 50% crit and crit damage targets (armor and health targets reached as well). That’s without a bloodlust stack or RaO Might Stacking. This also allows me to hot swap in the field from my dive bomber build to this heavy zerg build with just utility skill changes and nothing more. Gonna tweak it more while I finish testing my zerg shout build. I doubt I’m gonna keep the shout build much longer. Constantly spamming guard doesn’t lend itself well to also using a longbow which has two important channeled skills that need to be used constantly in a large battle.
I was a ranger before shortbow had 1200m range AND after it didn’t…

I used it in my new build too.
Its hard to imagine any build that would NOT want this trait. Its insanely good for both self and group support. The trait alone almost justifies having a ranger along on any wvw zerg or dungeon run. 150 precision is nothing to laugh at.
If the goal of the patch was to increase variety, making a trait so powerful its almost mandatory is a little peculiar.

Using this trait on my serker ranger i have 60% crit chance whenever im in combat. If i buff with fury it goes to 80 which is pretty sweet. Shame ranger serker builds still suck.
@kichwas
It’s only good for a few builds. Condition builds and soloing builds don’t have as much use for it. And it’s definitely not mandatory, because crit chance is easy to get. The difference between 40% crit and 50% crit isn’t that good, especially when you factor in how easy it is to get fury
