Hey ANET, just throwing a quick, tiny idea out there:

If you ever need ideas for a future Ranger pet, I think that a turtle would make a great drake.

Specifically, a Turtle would fit very well with the Drake “skeleton” and model-type animations, from the way they move, to Bite, to even Tail Spin.

Stat-wise, since Drakes are a “tank-y” pet with a ton of Vitality, I also thiat a turtle would work well.

Come on, you know you would love having an adorable Turtle as your loyal companion! <3

I…..am actually okay with that. Having something with the stats and attack patterns of a drake but with a defensive f2 might actually be really useful for Power BM builds. May even see Masters bond get combined with it to turn it into a juggernaut.

oh yes , YES .

f2 1.75cast > 2.75 channel time (cooldown 40secs)
Bonesnap turtle prepairs a Whirling spin that damages , reflects and evades.

Whirling spin (240 radius)
Damage : 65-85ish x 5 spins each spin 0.55secs (total time for f2 channel duration 2.75secs)
reflects for 3secs
Evade : 3secs (0.25sec accounts for spin down+start of normal movement)

(Reflect effected by Concentration Training)

I used to have a turtle pet in World of Warcraft. They were the best tank pet in the game. I would love to see them bring turtles over to GW2

I would love a large turtle pet with a good defensive F2. I like the idea of the spinning reflect move, but would be happy with a longer lasting projectile destroyer as well.

A defensive turtle pet would be more valuable in WvWvW as well, as a team protecting AoE field would be a nice addition that doesn’t require the pet to charge into the kill-zone.

As long as it kept hte drake attacks and stats it would be really good I think. Probably one of the first defensively balanced yet offensively viable choices wed get. Making it a really good wvw pet hopefully.

The F2 could be “I’m on a break” making your turtle crawl inside it’s shell reducing damage taken by 50% giving the turtle retaliation and reflecting projectiles lasting 1minute, your turtle will also be large enough that you can go sit inside his shell if you need to make a sammich.

Turtle would be an excellent pet to receive the new taunt mechanic they are releasing in HoT.

Usually the guys who want new pets claim “creatures” like pets despite the fact that it seems obvious that the ranger’s pets are “animals” like. I would truly love a turtle, F2 would indeed be an AOE field, the turtle would stop moving, entering his shell. We can dream i guess.
