How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
Hi everyone,
I’m interested in gearing up my Ranger as a Druid and am unsure about which armor set to go for. It seems to be between Cleric and Magi and I’m not sure which is best. I would slightly prefer Magi since I’m sitting on a boatload of HotW tokens but Power and Toughness sound a bit better than Vitality and Precision to me. Is there much of a difference between these two stat types or can I just go with Magi?
Thanks!
Magi is useless, Cleric for power, Settler for conditions.
Which game mode are we talking about? For general PvE you can still go Berserker’s and mix in Zealot’s armor/weapons if you really want some healing power, or Viper’s armor/weapons and Sinister trinkets for condi.
I’m using full cleric armor and weapons + berserker trinkets. It works fine for me.
I’m using Cleric’s as well. Save my bacon more than a few times.
I’ve had no issues with full Clerics and the group support is amazing.
It depends on how much coin you are willing to spend and how much healing you want to do.
Monk runes will be your best bet, so AC dungeon is required, which also gives Magi gear. If you were to use the Magi armor with Monk runes and the rest in zerker, it would have about 700 healing power and still do decent damage.
That would be the cheapest option. Save up for some Zealots armor and weapons though, it will be BiS for Druid. Go straight to ascended gear as the exotic is too expensive to justify. Also, ascended trinkets are quite cheap if you run fractals or from guild commendation guy.
A mix of magi/clerics/zerker would be decent too, but don’t give up too much power for vitality/toughness. Also, Delicious Riceballs are very cheap, so buy yourself a heap.

Magi….you can make it work, but…..Cleric is a much better choice.
((I do have a full set of Magi gear, and I originally used it to draw as little enemy aggro as possible and let my pet do the work. Pet always had nearly all boons and 25 stacks of might. In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to solo champs, but, kind of a boring style of play…..)

I think if you want to get ready for raids Magi would be the best choice. The guy with the highest toughness took the boss aggro in the beta raid and since you probably don’t want to heal and tank at once your team is better off if your tank only has to take a few toughness pieces to get highest toughness of the group.

You would want your “tank” to have Toughness as the primary stat on their armor so that they take as little damage as possible, making each heal worth more. Knight’s is probably the best for this, since you can still deal decent damage. My opinion anyway.
Remember that Magi has no power, so you will contribute little damage. You still want to deal as much damage as possible as well as heal. The heals are still pretty decent even with no healing power, so you don’t need tons of it.
Cleric > Magi by far. But I have concerns about raids since you don’t want to have the highest toughness in the group.
I keep repeating myself but don’t spend money IMO until we learn what is needed from raid druids. 900 gold on ascended clerics gears is going to look real stupid if zerker druids are meta.

Yeah, agree. Which is why I was saying grab a set of magi weapons and armor from AC dungeon, then get ascended zerker trinkets to go along with them, since they are pretty easy/cheap to get.
That is the cheapest way to go and he will need the runes anyway.
But, Zealots will be BiS for sure, imo.
