Guild Wars 2

After officially retiring my hammer/greatswrod warrior due to not being very viable. I have decided to play ranger or druid to be more specific.

I play using the Mender build posted by baluga In a thread a few below this one. I picked ranger because I love how I can play staff/GS or staff/LB. Meaning I can be melee or ranged. Taking up druid also makes me a dedicated healer. This profession makes me feel like the jack of all trades.

Now whenever I play a class in any MMO I really like to theorycraft, learn and master it. So I was wondering if you guys had any tips and tricks for me? Upon entering celestial form should I 3 for the daze? 2 for the seed and condi cleanse? 4 for the massive heal? Based on the information given please share some neat tricks or tips!

C. avatar #2 for condi cleanse and stomp/rezz with the blind it applies when seed “explode”
C. Avatar #3 for stop rezz on enemies.
C. avatar #5 in mid of teamfight to get everyone slowed and followed by immobilize, so your team can dish out a ton of damage with almost none resistance from the enemy.
Finishers on Smokescale’s F2 skill for stealth: C. avatar #3, staff #3, GS# 3, resulting on an easy stomp, disengage or just to buy sometime and get some cooldowns off.

Those are the ones i can remember right now, but pretty valuable when you remember to use then. They are the difference from winning or losing an outnumbered fight.

Staff 5 (Sublime Conversion) or CA 4 (Rejuvenating Tides) + Clarion Bond = Area Healing… Or Drakes, but it’s harder to do.

When I use CA for immediate heal, I do 3 first, since it’s faster and daze your enemies. Gives you more flexibility to do anything after.

Staff 3 is a blast finisher, as well as a decent area heal by it’s own right. At least for PvE applications it’s usually OK to drop Sublime Conversion, Ancestral Grace, and then Clarion Bond for 3 AOE heals back to back.

You can cast staff 4 behind you without needing to turn back while kiting away from a chasing enemy.

Ancient seeds + geo or hydro sigil + staff trait = roots
CAF 3 + CAF 5 + ancient seeds = aoe roots

If you’re ever having trouble getting any of the CAF skills off, try swapping pets right as you enter so you have quickness- or even CAF 3 and then start casting CAF 5 and pet swap to give you the quickness to finish it. if you’re running Glyph of Tides, you can also pull them in during that combo.

Glyph of Equality can be cast while doing other actions since it’s a stun breaker, but the other Glyphs can’t. You can use this to combo some stun chains.
