Druid changes from BWE3...
I’m pretty surprised actually that we have not seen anything yet. Then again, I’m pretty surprised that I’m actually surprised.
I take it live is when we will actually get to test any changes…
Unless Anet adds a lot of damage to the staff and the druid trait lines, I won’t be doing them. They are useless without damage.
One of the changes I’d love to see (but that we’ll never get) is the return of Spirits Unbound.
But I digress….
I’m pretty sure we’ll see it on Oct 23rd
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
There’ve been some changes to Druid staff, glyphs, traits and Celestial avatar skills.
One change I can mention is that Ancestral Grace will now end as soon as you reach your destination rather than having to wait out the animation. We weren’t able to do this before with point-based movement, but an awesome programmer threw together a way for us to script it in.
As Belzebu calls out: You’ll have to check out the rest of the changes on the 23rd!
did someone just Add more Wood to the hype Train? ether way im happy with added changes Bring it on the Jungle Awaits me!

I … was joking … aww man.

well… this is underwhelming news. No more Druid info pre-xpac launch
So, you changed everything around a little, but don’t tell us more about it?
That’s the definition of teasing I think.
just tell us you didn’t add damage (or at least not to celestial avatar) pleeease?

Thank you! I was hoping for this for so long! Can’t wait to finally play my druid in #GW2Hot <3 <3 <3 !
Meanwhile “Here are all the Daredevil and Dragonhunter changes for after BW3!”
Holding off until the launch for reasons …

That sounds like a lot of changes, I feel very positively about this since it means you must have taken our feedback seriously, kudos to you.

Glad this change is making it in, but why are we one of the only classes that has to wait until the 23rd to know what is being balanced? I know daredevil knew the changes within the week.

Holy mother of the six gods!
While the other professions get severe testing and clear feedback from the DEVs on the changes, all the rangers get is that? Wait till launch, wait and see what your specialization will be? Well thank you I think.
It is true, rangers are second class citizens.

Seriously? You’ve made a bunch of changes and you won’t tell us any of them now?
We really have to wait until launch?
Wow.

This is disheartening, though I am not surprise to say the least. We are rangers and we are treated like second class citizens. All the other classes besides the Scrapper had extensive feedback and clear direction on where they are changing the specs.
I was expecting half of that at least, or even a list of confirmed changes like what the other specs got.
Instead we get a tease, and a confirmed bug fix we know that is going to get fixed anway… So dissapointing, yet not surprising.

Why the secrecy with the Druid changes? Every single change to the other professions elites have been discussed… With the exception of Scrapper. Karl McLain has released changes from BWE3 for the Daredevil and the Dragon Hunter… So sealed lips is not mandatory at this time…
Meanwhile, Karl McLain is being a great dev for Thief and Guardian and has made two threads detailing loads of changes for each specialisation. admitedly, Irenio basically posted the same thing in the Engi thread so we aren’t getting completely bummed, but I am curious why Karl’s allowed to toot his change-trumpet and Irenio has to keep his in a case? Must be some ancient secret business knowledge only Anet knows about.
Did you seriously think “teasing” the ranger community was a good idea to keep them happy and get them hyped at this time? I assume you’ve read almost every post thats been made in the last 12 days? You have dug yourself YET ANOTHER hole here. Stop messing about and actually think before you engage with us. I’d prefer that over frequent skirmishes of stupidity.

Perhaps it’s because they know we’re either not going to like the changes or they didn’t change things enough to make Druid more effective.
I wouldn’t be surprised by either.

Well, they cannot be very happy with what they got right now, otherwise they would let us know…

I understand that Druid is probably still undergoing many changes. . . but I don’t feel safe to prepare gear until I know the details. Not knowing til the day of is kind of a bummer but understandable.
Could we at least see some of the animations that were changed? It would be a nice sneak peak! <3
Irenio – While I appreciate you taking the time to answer my original question, I do have to ask: Why are we being made to wait until the 23rd to see/digest the changes?
It would be nice to know now, so that we can plan/change our builds accordingly.
I’m just sad that i’m not surprised
I am at a loss of words…..
Releasing these changes on launch so Ranger’s don’t know how screwed they are before the launch and ask for more work then wait 6 months to a year after HoT launch to buff/change themmmmm can’t wait for the neverending Ranger-Cycle
Or the dead dream, Druids are good on the 23th with the changes, people complain, nerfs in the same week gonna be funnn
(edited by Maikky.8526)
Disappointed:
1. Should have released changes to Druids before the changes on economy. Other classes had time to plan for ascended gear and such for their builds. We don’t have that luxury and mat prices are already fluctuating.
2. Not enough BWE testing to really fine tune the druid like other classes.
I hope Anet will change their decision on releasing information on druid and scrapper before the 23rd.
My fear is that once HoT launches, Druid will never be looked at again.

I’m sure they will, but changes/fixes won’t be as fast as WHaO was

How about this Friday you give us Rangers and the Engineers a list of changes so far and what you’re still working on, and going to be working on in the week leading up to launch? We seriously need to see these changes to make preparations and discuss them. A week for that seems fair.
Seeing as how we only got the one beta weekend to test the Scrapper and the Druid I was expecting that the forums would be alive with almost weekly updates so that we could provide more feedback. Having only a single chance to get our opinions out there, and then not getting to see how and if our worries have been resolved is… disheartening.
Please clue us in.
Casts “Sic ’Em” on Druid changes to reveal them, but they’re already stealthed so I can’t target them. Oops. Can someone with a sneak Gyro sort this out?!??
(edited by Treetoptrickster.4205)
This might be a novel ideal, but maybe Anet should consider releasing some info to the community before implementing it in live. Sometimes players who actually play the class can immediately identify problems/weaknesses/exploits in new skills without even needing to test it (MDG, WhaO). That way, devs wouldn’t have to go through the whole cycle of fixing/removing as many things.
It’ll be less work for developers in the long run!
So mostly everything about Druid is getting adjustments it seems, even if they aren’t being detailed. That’s good.
BUT…. I see no mention of any adjustments to the new pets. Please tell me you just neglected to mention those, and not that they’re staying as they were.
I bet Roy got ahold of our Smokescale.
Your constructive feedback has been really awesome so far and I trust will continue to be. I understand your concerns with not enough being communicated and I’m looking into getting more information out on some of the more solid changes we have.

Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Druid and scrapper only got one BWE for feedbacks. All the other classes got feedback answers threads, except druid and scrapper. Better be ready for a let down.

Great, see this is more like it.
This also shows that you’re on our side, Irenio, and it’s not your fault we’re not allowed info. This is something we have needed. Now please go and respond to the WHaO thread and you’re a saint.

Hi Irenio,
Thanks. I’m really excited to see that you guys are touching up all the elements we gave feedback on, regarding the druid at least. That Astral Grace change is the bomb, and I hope to see lots of improvements to #2 and #4 as well.
That being said, as most of us predicted, having only one beta weekend to test and give feedback on prior to release was a bit of a mis-step on your guys’ end. For instance, there is absolutely no guarantee that the changes you’re making currently (just prior to launch) are going to be sufficient. Most other profs got several chances for iteration, and even then they will need more work. So there is definitely a bit of inequality going on here, not sure what that’s about. My suggestion is that you at least run them by us this week, so the masses of experienced ranger players can filter out some of the glaring bad changes (IF there are any).
More than any other profession, we are most eager to find out about the changes to the core ranger. i.e. shouts, reverting the knee-jerk WHaO nerf (or at least reaching a reasonable compromise), spirits, axes, shortbow and so on. While you may not have time to get these out on Oct. 23, we hope these changes are your very next priority.
Once again, great work on the druid and good luck with the launch!

This thread has already over 2000 views, this alone says how badly people want to see the upcoming changes to prepare for launch.
The fact that nothing can be revealed until launch is completely unfair relative to other classes (save engi) but more importantly, it’s worrisome.
I can only come up with 2 reasons as to why:
1. Changes haven’t been finalized or even remotely close to being finished to say anything concrete.
2. Devs assume the changes will cause a backlash and don’t want any outrage before launch.
Even worse is, once launch has arrived we can get used to the usual 6 month update cycle to potentially change anything that could have been changed from feedback at this time.
Even even worse is that we can’t plan how to build our Druid meanwhile because no one knows if you fundamentally changed anything from the previous Druid. Now we will have to do that at launch.
Even even even worse is that the economy changes will probably make it more expensive to gear a druid had you announced Druid changes before economy changes.
This is unacceptable.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
Zombies have been secretly waiting for the right moment to rise from their graves and eat all of mankind and the apocalypse is near. That is the only way to explain why there’s a dev paying attention to us and still posting in these forums! (/sarcasm)

Can this implementation also be used to fix Ele’s Ride The Lightning skill? That skill has been overshooting because of the animation for nearly 3 years.
Even even even worse is that the economy changes will probably make it more expensive to gear a druid had you announced Druid changes before economy changes.
Anet’s complete lack of foresight is truly legendary.
inb4 crafting a set of ascended clerics shoots through the roof because everyone was right and thick leather becomes the new silk.
To me, having to wait till Oct 23 to see the final state of the druid is unacceptable.
Primarily because we have to decide whether the class in its final product is worth playing in high end PvE as anything other than a healbot.
Tied to that is having to farm all the 140 hero points datamined as the cost of unlocking the specialization.
So why are we being asked to waste time farming hero points on a specialization that might not even be worth it at all.
More importantly, it’s a question of preparation. Ascended sets, runes, sigils.
All the other classes got several weekends of iteration and preview of the final stage of the class, yet druids and engineers got stuck with specializations that are going to release incomplete with marginal contribution from the community in their design.
We’re essentially dealing with prototypes while the other classes get polished products they know they can invest on.
