Druid, staff + ?
Greatsword/Staff looks interesting. Very defensive with good burst. Plus druid traits go well with any weapon with dazes, stuns, or knockdowns of which the greatsword has all three.
Greatsword staff with quickdraw and passive 33% speed buff.
For a ranged weapon like staff you’ll probably want a melee weapon for the second set, if only for defensive purposes. The ranger’s ranged weapons all are a bit lacking on the defensive end.
For raids ill probably be going longbow staff. Just to secure dps/heal uptime. In pvp ill prob go gs/staff or staff/sword axe. rock the mobility/control aspects.
I’ll probably be using either LB +Staff or Staff +Axe/Axe or Staff + X/WH
There’s so many things i like about druid, staff has guaranteed itself as a weapon set for me since it doesn’t have projectiles and provides some anti projectiles, now the question is what will my other weapon set be…

I’ve thought about this for a while and I really think the only viable option is basically longbow + staff or axe/torch + staff. This is mostly because greatsword does very low damage to kill anyone with it. Sword/axe might also work but sword is not the best pvp power weapon, especially compared to lb. In the end, however, as cool as the staff skills are, I feel like it doesn’t dish out enough damage to be relevant outside of a purely support role.
Axe/Horn + Staff
for great support and healing, while also AoEing down trash.
I want GS/staff to be a thing but we’ll see.
If GS still doesn’t have the damage then maybe a/t.
Axe for the pet might stacking and torch for area denial.

staff/GS will be a cool new build. they synergize so well. other than LB, the rest of our weapons don’t really do any damage.
staff + s/x, or staff/SB might be interesting with traps. not sure about condi builds yet.
PvE wise probably:
Staff / Axe & Torch
Staff for support, Axe and Torch for the tags
Probably the same for WvW
PvP wise, I really need to play around with the traits to come up with a real decent answer…. theory wise… maybe Staff / Sword + Torch or dagger

Wvw. Wanna try staff/s+wh. Purpose: Using Smokescale pet and trolling with the blast finishers. If Ancestral Grace is indeed a Blast finisher, then AG into smoke field, swap to s/wh and use cotw, then swap pets if you have Clarion Bond. 9s area stealth gg.
Depends what the damage is like but I think that the staff will rarely be a primary weapon for me except for playing heal bot.
PvP
If i where to go condi bunker bm i think that i would use a/t-staff
if i where to go cleric bm i would use either s/a – staff or gs-staff
if i where to go cele SB i might use SB-staff but more likely SB-x/t
If i where to go full healer for team fights i would use Staff/gs (gs for the block stun and gap closer)
Im not sure how i would use staff in pve ill have to wait for Hot content to see
WvW zerging most like staff-A/WH staff for the heals and Axe for the tags
Roaming i have no idea yet im not sure whether staff has any use in a solo environment
I cant see a use for lb/staff yet
I was thinking something like shortbow and greatsword to focus on stuns for the cc trait. I also might try greatsword and axe/torch to stack bleeds, burns and stun. It’s possible I’ll also go with longbow and sword/torch. If the longbow knockback can proc the entanglement trait then it could be interesting.

Staff + Axe/Warhorn or Dagger
MH Axe + Nature Magic + new We Heal as One! + Guard! is just too good to pass up. Since majority of my damage will be coming from boosted and traited pet when I heal…

Staff/Staff with Siglis of Renewal and Quick Draw.
This is actually could be a thing due to the staff realted trait.
PvE, I’m going to try Staff+Sword/Wh or Staff+GS, depending on how defensive I need to be. Staff’s ranged, so it feels most logical to me to drop the longbow’s burst ranged damage for the staff’s burst ranged heals.
PvP I’ll probably drop shortbow, and try Staff+Axe/Torch. Gotta keep that condition damage high!
im going with gs/staff or LB/staff

If druid really winds up being the monk in raids they hinted at, probably staff longbow. You wouldn’t want to be keeping the whole party up while also trying to melee a 1-hit kill boss with complicated mechanics or fast attacks like the Lupi kick.
That said, I’m extremely, extremely skeptical that’s how druid will be played in raids.
I’m gonna go staff+gs
although that staff-staff combo have intrigued me….

discussion about offensive/deffensive playstyles
I’ll go with GS+Staff first with clerics AMU and beastmastery, Druid and Marksmanship, for crazy daze-durations, heal and mobility.
I`ll be going with my usual longbow build, so LB/Staff for me. As a power ranger, the third traitline was already weak, so it offers me a significant alternative playstyle that will be very hand in wvw especially. It turns me into a sort of combat medic, I guess.
I will be trying sword torch, with all the cc available to us bonfire is looking pretty sweet.
