Dual Wield Longbows
Wut?
How would you shoot them? Trying to figure out the mechanics makes my brain hurt…
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
A cooler mechanic than dual longbow would be giving rangers special arrows that serve different purpose i.e fire arrow, etc.
I just found out the hard way that you can’t equip two longbows and have them act as separate weapons. They share the same cooldown. So I put that second ascended bow on my warrior. mutter
New Trait: while dual wielding bows, you fire great swords that shatter into a fan of knives on impact. Each dagger can bounce 5 times.
As op as that sounds, I’d laugh at all the rangers 1 shoting themselves from retaliation spike ;-)

Used to have that in GW1. Was called preparations.
So sharpening stone doesn’t work on your Rangers?
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
This sounds amazing LOL
Would this allow rangers to progress into Rambos?

Someone was killed by a LB ranger recently…

This is actually stolen from World of Warcraft. I don’t think we need it.
We have trait for crippling our ranged targets, we have runes for chilling them or blasting with fire. That idea is not needed in my opinion.
warriors have a dual shot AA. Does that count?

Because World of Warcraft is the font from which all original ideas spring forth? It’s not an original idea but it’s certainly not stolen from World of Warcraft. You can find plenty of examples of ranger-esque characters using different types of arrows in video games long before Blizzard behemoth hit the scene.
That being said, and this is probably the wrong thread for it given that it is clearly not to be taken seriously, different arrow preparations is perhaps not a bad idea as a mechanic. So many people want to get rid of the pet, so why not have preparations as a unique mechanic toggle, like Elementalist attunements, except they provide a passive effect to your attacks rather than changing your primary skills?

I yield. You got me at this one.
But I still don’t think that implementing a brand new mechanic – that would take half a year to balance in practice and find all the exploits that players would come up with, possible OP builds and so on – is worth taking Developers time instead of finding solutions for already clunky mechanics we have.
I’d rather have my Ranger rewarding than fancy.
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)

These were called Preparations in GW1. They were awesome. ^^
They should introduce crossbows and allow rangers to dual wield those. The game has pistols and rifles, but no crossbows? What is this madness?! I want a rapid bolt firing, crossbow dual wielding power ranger nao, anet!
Wait, BRILLIANT! What about a long bow that could shoot other longbows? And each long bow would shoot other longbows. The possibilities are endless.

They’re in GW2 as well. Anet just gave them to thieves and renamed them venoms.

I am the bone of my longbow
Arrows are my body and rapid fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand longbows
Unknown to Death, Nor known to Life
Have withstood pain to create many longbows
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, unlimited longbow works.
Woah, this talk of preparations reminded of an old, but great suggestion to replace pets.
Basically, it was that your f1-4 skills became preps like fire arrows, poison arrows etc… And that they would have special functions and things. Can’t remember the details of it and who made it up, but it was awesome and I would’ve loved to see it implemented.
If you combine the two longbows into a single greatbow, you should be able to shoot bears.
Think about it:
- OMG RUN IT’S A BEARBOW!
- wut? lol dude, bearbows aren’tAAAAAIIIIIIEEEE!!!!
Save the Bell Choir activity!

This could actually be a legit idea for a legendary! Who wants pansy ponies when you can have bears mauling peoples faces!
The original post is a troll but we need preparations from gw1
Just the WvW
R3200+
The different arrows thing is spawning all kinds of ideas in my head.
- Give Rangers a ‘quiver’ utility that acts like an engineer’s toolkit
- quiver, depending on which bow you are wielding, turns skillset into one that fires different arrows
exploding arrows, arrows that conjure vines from the earth upon hit, fire arrows, arrows that bounce between targets, arrows that immobilize, arrows that heal allies when passed through them and leech HP from the enemy.
Dem possibilities.

Better YET! When welding a longbow and a bear as a pet we should be able to shoot the bear with the bow!!!
So at least the bear could get to one enem and do some damage before became usseless again!!!!
So then when someone says something like “Meh a bearbow..” you can do a bear to their face!!
Also the sword#1 AA should take longer when the kick. M.Bay showed us tha we love slow motion when the kicks. So slow motion should be. And the sword #3 should do like 3 rotations around the target, just to be sure it get dizzy enough.
Of course GS#2 should be longer as well. So we can appreciate the bear animation. Like 3 seconds long should be enough for everyone to see.
Any more ideas? we should send Anet an email with this suggestions for the next patch!!

And i miss that a lot! and those f**ng pets are just not my thing, i want them gone with specialization :>
