I guess this is kind of a poll-type thread.

If Anet were to give us a new elite skill that allowed us to summon an extra-powerful pet for a certain period of time (or until it died), what would you like to see?

I like the idea of a phoenix with sassy particle effects ‘n shiz, though how consistent with Ranger lore that would be I’m not sure…

I would like one that works properly and uses it’s f2 ability as soon as I command it.

Lunar Wolf would make sense.

personally, I want the gw1 pets back (tiger, swan, etc. etc.), lunar wolf, phoenix, and fractal pets :P

I would like Ferocious Strike back with something to replace the adrenaline and 3…9…10 Energy.

maybe
has a high base damage single << attack just the one attack on a low Cooldown 40-50sec cooldown maybe a max of 45 i think would be good.
stacks Vunrability(3secs base)apply vun acording to the amount of Vun already on the target So basicly doubles the amount of Venrabiltiy for 3secs , would be a good skill for Sustained damage.
the damage would Scale well with beastmastery .

so you click the elite skill applies the double Vunrabilty (lasts for 3secs) then the pet attacks doing it damage then applies cripple for 3secs (a 50% condi duration boost would put it up to 4.5 secs)could get away with 2secs , this cripple will let the pet carry on attacking for 2secs two auto attacks. making it a nice attack
by then bonus stacks of vunrability have worn off.

this would be better on a combat pet but would also require you to time the attack.

and its purely a spike attack , though with signet of the hunt now at 30secs it would be a good gap filler, As i wouldn’t be using Signet of the hunt on a perm cycle i’ll need to create a gap in combat between the target and myself to pop it , this skill should do enough damage to make someone panic and move away from the pet giving you space to move around making up for the loss of the 25% speed while the signets on cooldown.

plus it adds a little more control for the power builds as most of the weapons a power ranger would use ether Stuns , has a short amount of cripple and blocks. this would be without including the Utilities.

Muddy terrain > Rapid fire > (the guy dodges if not he take a) Ferocious Strike to the face (then he can block as his stuck on the spot for 2secs) its perfectly counterable as its still a Hard CC attack that can be blocked, blinded , chilled to miss, and launched.

“Fury of the Wild”
Call every type of animal in the game to stampede over your enemies. No target cap. Functions like a necro’s golem charge. 10k damage per tick. 1800 range knockback. Applies 25 stacks of might to self and 25 stacks of vulnerability, confusion, weakness, cripple, and bleeding to anyone hit. 1800 range AoE.

I would love something like this.

Falcon (classified as Pet), a ‘critter’ pet to always follow you as long as it is slotted.

Falcon Strike – 60 sec CD activated ability, 1200 range, initial cast blockable but not hits if it lands: The falcon singles out the opponent to strike, inflicting 2 second daze, and hitting the enemy for elite-balanced damage for x seconds. If the enemy is already dazed, it will apply weakness and confusionx5 for 8 seconds.
Passive effect: Periodically inflicts vulnerabilityx2 (5sec) on your last target within 1200 range every 3 seconds but otherwise does no damage, and in addition the falcon will hover around you or land on your shoulder. Fully animated pet, but untargetable/unkillable, and mostly fluff. If pet is toggled passive it will land on your shoulder.

Just a rough idea on values and exact skill effects, but I think it would be really cool to have sort of an extra pet with you that can burst or given the rapid hits, apply bleed stacks depending on your build. It also synergizes with beastmastery a little which could always use a little bit of love. It will also give a nod to GS and shortbow, as well as be amusing with warhorn, but is also team-debuff-friendly.

oh shadow, you know that golem packs a punch, but its also slow , and i doubt if they released a Pet Elite slot skill it won’t be hitting for 10k . atm a kitted pet with 25might hits for 1.5k on autos, this elite skill would do about double 3k+ pets auto,
150% crital rate same as players so that would be a Elite skill that would deal 7k (if only most people cleanse Vun if it gets to about 12stacks and only rapid fire can apply 10 stacks half of those will miss if he dodges , so the elite skill would be 10-12 stacks of vun still after the effect is applied)
pet total damage 7.7k on a crit and a cripple after armour the maths if horrid but it shows the concept of it.

considering entangle hits 5 targets for 18k bleeds on average and 1.6k damage while they are binded.
if you stay put it’ll hurt , same concept for the pet you stay put it’ll hurt you.

Consider making it dependant upon what pet you have active at the time. Rainbow phoenix from Guild Wars 1 for certain birds, for example.

I would like to see a monkey pet that throws banana peels and people slip over it.

…seriously.. if you guys want the ranger to be more useful , instead of an Option for a bit of trolling fun, you wouldn’t be trolling,.and try to be constructive by giving points of views from other classes, not everyone in the game has the time to lvl Multipul lvl 80s

Exactly, what’s the point of contributing to a subject if I have to scan over tons of trolling posts? I wonder if that’s how the devs feel about reading threads like these.

Anyhow, having an elite pet sounds interesting, I’d like to see juvenile wolf activate a howl that would enlarge him and would also summon a wolf pack of say 7 (including the juvenile wolf) to attack an enemy. When one of the wolves hits the enemy, it would cause damage, cripple and stack and cause vulnerability (like rapid fire). So the pack of wolves would each disappear after their attack lands, ending with the juvenile wolf causing a bang and a 3 second fear. At the end of the attack, your pet would disappear for the duration of a pet swap cool down, so it wouldn’t be necessarily an overpowered elite strike because you’d lose usage of your pet for the duration of the pet swap cool down.

A toggle. Fusion with your pet with a different set of F1-4 skills.
