We all can agree vines are useless most of the time, simply because they don’t trap their target.
Right now with all the cleanses, cleanses on dodge, cleanse on hit, cleanse on cleanse the vines are completely useless . Plus the fact that the vines must have around 100 hp so they die almost instantly at any hit it’s not any help.

The vines needs to change and this is how i would make them to work:

  • The vines do not apply the condition immobilize instead they apply a condition similar Karka Leg Grab but that apply immobilize that last 1 second for every second. This condition can not be cleansed by any means.
  • The only way to get free from the vines is to kill the vine itself or wait for the end of the duration. The vine should have at least 15K hp and they should be affected by damaging conditions.
  • Every second the vines will apply the damaging condition that is already in the tooltip of the skills.

Also the elite skill Entangle should apply something else than bleeds. That elite skill should apply also poison so the long CD it’s justified.

Elite skill is fine. 60s/48s is actually fairly low cd for elite.

Sounds legit. People hacking away at 15K HP vines will definitely bring in more eSports views. Anet’s gonna love this idea.

I think the skill is pretty decent as it is. A bit hard to land, so the animation could be a but quicker, and the cooldown a bit shorter. Also, some additional thing to apply to pets when using staff skills (general request).

Anyone care to explain what “Number of Impacts: 7” actually means?

The bleeds/immobilize/dmg pings.

The vines could be improved for atleast the elite skill. But how to do it? If some gets truly caught by this skill and isn’t able to break it they are screwed. Most other immobilize skills last less than 3 seconds. Then on the flip side there are enemies that this is a complete joke. How to balance it out could really be looked at.

Anyone care to explain what “Number of Impacts: 7” actually means?

7 individual AOEs that can hit up to 3 targets each. Think of it like Revenant Hammer Coalescence of Ruin or Berserker’s Longbow Scorched Earth.

Edit: On topic, though. Vine Surge could use an improvement but not by much. Increased duration of the immobilization to 2-seconds is a start, but I’d also opt for a radius increase.

Currently, it’s 7 rectangular AOEs approx. 90 units wide x 160 units long w/6 10-unit gaps between each impact. A slight boost to the width from 90 to 120 would make this a bit easier to hit (I guess).

i still think a few stacks of bleeds in 600 radious for a 60 seconds cd elite is not enough.
15k hp is not much, its the same as bristleback has and we all know how fast that pet die.
with the “you have to focus in the vines for a second if you want to get free” and poison application this elite could actually be called “elite”.

about esports argument… this game need to balance many things before consider to be included in that category.

Vines should be a ranged aoe circle so it can be used in wvw settings as well on wall targets…

so we can have some sinergy with the new trait line, to trigger ancient seeds.
