Few Quality of life changes to Ranger traits
I think it depends A LOT on the build that you run.. I absolutely LOVE the trait that reduces bow skills and the Piercing Arrows one.. Why? I run dual bow..
Although, I see your point, OP. Some of those traits aren’t that awesome or gamebreaking, but can be considered subpar.. My advice: Don’t use them then

There shouldn’t be any (for any profession) “gamebreaking” traits (or any mechanics really), I hope you meant game changing.
I hope you meant game changing.
Yah, what I meant.. My bad..

Right, this is a large problem and has been for quite some time.
The pet specific traits are being improved in the next patch to no longer be species specific. This is a substantial and welcome change. That said, I think a reasonable argument could be made that all pet related traits outside of the BM tree should have an impact on the Ranger as well (not the same, but some impact). The ones inside the BM tree should then be significantly more powerful than you’d expect simply because they impact the pet only.
Spirits (and pets) are quite good in paper, but they run into the problems with random AE making them near worthless outside of duels. This is an issue game wide and things like Guardian Spirit Weapons, Necro Minions, and Ele Elementals should probably all get some kind of AE protection (even if game limited to WvW). Spirits do still require a substantial investment though.
Shouts also need to be dramatically improved like you said. They’re easily the worst shouts in the game and things like Guard are only ever useful due to Nature’s Voice.
Marks is still quite bloated for ranged Rangers. I know that the whole point of traits is to make players make difficult choices, but most other classes are limited to choices based on gameplay (do I want an offensive trait or a defensive one). Rangers need to choose between a host of offensive ones that many only impact a single weapon or playstyle.
That’s why I’m really not that impressed with this patch. It’s great that the Ranger is being noticed. But we had a CDI thread a long time ago and the changes being made I would say are more ‘low hanging fruit’ changes that should have all been common sense. Nothing that required an unofficial CDI thread, an official CDI thread, and 8 months of analysis.
Shouts really need some buffs, Raise you hand if you ever used search and rescue lol, or guard before nature voice buff, and even then it’s simply underwhelming.
Shouts really need some improvements, some ideas :
1. Make RAO a shout ability
2. Nature voice should be improved or moved from GM to Master or even adept.
Changed the topic of this post didn’t want to make a whole new one.
