Create a GrandMaster trait (“ONE WITH THE BEAST”) , this trait fuses the ranger with its currently equipped pet, giving the ranger a stat boost and the Pets unique activated ability. The ranger would be able to swap between pets just like now, changing the pet unique activated ability and triggering on pet swap traits.

This would still give the whole idea pets are still there and being used, without the stupid pet AI to deal with. This seems like it would fit perfectly fine within the ranger theme. I would suggest replacing HONED AXES in beastmastery. The benefit to this would essentially be not having a stupid AI to deal with.

We’ve been asking to not be tired to the fuzzy little kitten monsters since day 1. It’s not going to happen unless a net does a pretty big 180. You’ve either got to learn to control them as best you can (keep them on passive and treat them as extra utility skills) or play another class. Warrior rifle/lb/great sword simulates the ranger Longbow/great sword reasonably well and thief is somewhat similar to ranger sword/dagger/shortbow

Alternatively, they can fix pet pathing in combat. Sweet lord is it horrid. I normally don’t really watch my pets path, just do a quick eyeball of ‘is the target in range of f2’ instead. Buuut, I was recently 1v1’ing a friend and I asked him to let the pet chase him around a bit. The pet literally followed the path he took, little zig-zags and everything. No attempt to take the shortest path to the target, just….followed along. It was kind of painful to watch.
