Whilst pressing F1 lock on with a flying bird, is becoming a troublesome issue. As it is, and has been since I can remember, the flying birds are the only pets that once F1 is pressed, do a ceremonial fly past two or three times before actually attacking the target.
This is all well and good, but in a pressure situation, especially in SPvP/ WvW, it is a real issue, where vital fractions of a second count. And before any one says it, yes i could go to another pet—-but surely that is not the point.

Yes, that’s a big complaint about the flying birds. I think one poster called them . . . flamboyant. Still, I know a lot of PvPers swear by the owl.

It only does that the first engagement. After that, it seamlessly switches targets. It’s the price you pay for free AoE Swiftness/Vigor.

If you’re on a bird in sPvP or WvW, you will be switching constantly. Anything more then two people and that poor critter is fried.

Probably dead with one if you neglect it even for a moment. Easily the most fragile of pets. Great DPS though.

7k pet crits are fun. They’re the glass cannons of our menagerie. They’re also fairly tough to single out, being so small.

People complain about the asura, birds are even worse. I miss sending my bird up walls in WvW. That should be a unique perk of the flying birds, given their recent nerf.

This happens because pets usually start the fight using one of their special skills (the ones with cooldowns), and only then they use the autoattack (this is great because canines start with the knockdown, and drakes with the AOE Blast Finisher).
