Fractals
In certain circumstances there is not a way to avoid a pet’s demise. In fractals, I like spiders because of their ranged damage and they can occasionally immobilize and poison some enemies. In the case of Horriks cannons’, all pets will die. Allow the one pet death and when Mai returns pet swap for your secondary and keep at your side (if anything but a spider) and use them simply for utilities. Tankier pets such as drakes or ursans do well in dungeons and fractals as well. They can last quite a while in most circumstances if you swap them out regularly. In reference to stealthing, put your pet on passive and stow while not in combat. If you are hit or take damage your pet pops out, but should not aggro by attacking. It seems to work for me. Also note that with the last major update, the zerker ranger can deal significant damage even without its class mechanic. The pet deals some damage, but most of it’s use in this case is found in its F4 abilities.
Hey Sarahfull. I actually ran a 50 with you the other day when I was on my ranger, Zeddicus Zenzedi.
Standard Operating Procedure in Fractals (especially the high levels) is to keep the pet on passive until needed, then use F1 and F3. I also keybound my active/passive button as well to use on my Naga to make it easier not having to use the F1 and F3 as much.
During Mai cannon phase the pet is guaranteed dead. Nothing we can do about this until the give the pet AOE resistance. Don’t forget pets can body block her teleport skill if they aren’t dead.
On the Grawl fractal your elite, Entangle, will hold ol’ demon grawl in place during phase as well.
Snowblind the pet needs to be kept on passive 100% of the time for the stealth trick to work… and no matter the pet on the high levels they will die during bonfire phase if done without stealth.

Thanks for the help ^^
I was also talking to a friend it seems tonics are a rangers best friend because your pet is hinded during the trasformation. However I find it very odd how much extra work rangers have to do ( Im gona say as much as the ele/engi piano play ) just to keep your pet out from agro’ing stuff and keeping the run smooth.
If you take a look at snowblind, your pet doesnt tp with you during a bizzard so if you got your pet attking the boss it will stay there and either risk agro’ing some ice elementals when you try return him or could phase the boss again. Youll need to swap after the bizzard or have your bag menu open and tonic up.
Oh yes! As you guys said, having a passive pet was ok and I was able to help light the bombfire while stealth instead of just watching ^^
Sarah
For Mai, just let the pet die and when you have shred her stacks, swap pets and get to Horrick phase again.
If you have trouble with pet aggro when skipping, just put the pet on passive and spam f3 while running if you want to be 100% certain it will not attack anything. The pet can walk right in the middle of a pack of foes and not aggro, as long as you, the ranger, won’t aggro. As soon as the pet hits a foe, you aggro and the pet aggros. So hit that f3 and you’ll be fine as long as you won’t be in aggro range.
