Guild Wars 2

So I finally got my Ranger to 80. I play almost exclusively WvW. I had been juggling a Warrior, Engineer and Necro but wanted something different. I was thinking I wanted to start with a non-Longbow Power build for all-around WvW play. I don’t get huge zerg action most times on my server, but I’d like to be able to handle it when it does arise. I was thinking of a mid-close range skirmisher type build. Please let me know if this is a horrible idea.

I don’t have my heart set on the Traveler Runes as they’re pretty pricey. I’d be all for using Signet of the Hunt while I save up for the runes, or using a different set altogether (Ranger or Warrior perhaps). The ascended accessories are what I have available from other characters that I could potentially use. Outside of those I’m restricted to exotics if anyone is going to propose alternatives.

Skills and weapons look good, have you tried axe/GS in wvw? Axe’s medium range works in skirmish and clearing away guards.

Maybe drop Evasive Purity for 2 handed training?

I didn’t go for 2-Handed Training because I should be able to get decent uptime on Fury from Furious Grip, and when taking camps Blinds can be a real pain. I’d have to play around with it and see which works better

I spent some time with Axe while leveling, but haven’t really used it in a while. Not sure what to pair with it in a power build though. Dagger maybe for Cripple/Poison/Evade?

If going GS – Axe/X I might try something like this. Again perhaps using Ranger Runes and SotH instead of expensive Traveler Runes.
