I don’t know about you guys but I’m getting really frustrated with my Ranger in WvW. The lightning evade utility is so unreliable but is our only stun breaker. It doesn’t evade if you’re stunned. It only breaks the stun. So you’re still a sitting duck while your character does the stupid ‘evade’ animation.

You can’t use the lightning evade if you’re getting chased by enemies because that would make you dodge right into them. It’s impractical to have to turn around to face your enemies, and then use the utility.

The Pet Sacrifice is near useless as well since pets die very quickly. And we’ve all established that spirits are kitten.

I feel that Ranger really has little survivability. Am I missing a utility or weapon ability?

Signet of Renewal is our best stun break imo. If you use Lightning Reflexes, you still evade (or should) while the animation plays but the fact that you stay in the same spot and it doesn’t break any effects like immob/chill/cripple was always a deal break for me.

Drop Lightning Reflexes, pick up Signet of Renewal, and start pre-kiting sooner if you use two bows, or get ready to switch to melee and SAVE that Signet for as long as you can as it’s our only on-demand condition dump.

You need to have a mobility weapon equiped. Greatsword is good to get away quickly with swoop, and the horn is of course fantastic for its haste/fury spell. Longsword can be used for mobility as well, but I find it too finiky- you can easily go the wrong direction and get killed.

Also, combine a mobility weapon with spike or ice trap.

Lightning reflexes only breaks stun-it sounds like you are getting hit by an immobilize. At any rate it doesn’t create much space-a thief HS easily closes any gap made with it. The condition removal signet is good because it will break immobilize and stun when activated.

If you run with a group, have reasonable toughness, and position yourself well you should be able to run away ok with the above tools. Rangers lack mobility sadly, but the two main options we have are pretty good-especially the horn.

I wish we had a one-handed wepon with a short cd mobility skill (like longsword only with the skill reversed so that you jump forward) that way you could have an escape option (and offensive gap closer) while horn is on cd and still be able to equip a bow in the other weapon set.
