Full Regen Ranger WvW Build
Isnt this the same as faux’s RRR build that came out when they patched shout regen? Its your regular shout regen ranger with slight modifications. Very effective.
Different runes, sigils, pets. Very similar but different in many many ways.
Lots of variations of this build popping up now, nice to see people finally finding it
L80 – Engi/Ele/Grd/Warri/Rngr/Thief/Mes/Nec
Co-Leader [PRXM] Praxium – Gunnar’s Hold
I run just about the same as this except with antitoxin runes and 10 in either BM or Marksmanship for reduced shout duration, mighty shouts, or sharpening stone depending on mood.

This is a brilliant build. Best condi bunker I’ve played in the current meta. I use it exactly as koroshi presents it. Been playing on it extensively the past few days.
The guy in the comments is clueless. 5 bleed stacks arent worth the tradeoff from losing perma swiftness, tougher pet, shorter cooldown on your main source of regen; after all you have huge healing stat thats what you should focus on. Evasive purity isnt needed at all with so much passive condi removal, koroshi explains why he doesnt use shared anguish on this build about a minute and half in and opening strike is pointless on this build.
If you want to post the guy’s build at least post his build. It’s far better than random youtube troll who opens his comments on someone’s build with “Koro, you’re doing it wrong” version.
In short, put those points back into BM if you’re going to promote his build and stop listening to random noobs.
Some people might prefer a slightly more offensive version of it, I’m not sure why you go on such a rant about “youtube trolls” sharpening stone gives massive burst to a condition build and it has a relatively short cd itself, given that you can have perma regen already without shout master and near perma swiftness aswell it’s definetly a good slightly more offensive version of the build.

Yeah.. I dont really buy the “his version is the best now and forever, dont try anything new or change anything”…
Theres clear pros and cons for all the differences between the 2 setups and its probably makes minimal difference, but one will suit different peoples playstyle better than others.
Besides.. what a boring way to play the game.. just looking up builds that the top 3-4 people on the forums have made and using them word for word, never thinking to maybe modify it to suit what you want out of the build >_> If you look at the build and decide it is already exactly everything you want then fine.. but that doesnt mean thats the case for everyone.

I’m sure it works well. This is a pretty safe and easy formula to follow.
I feel like some Dire gear mixed in would do you well. You lose a little healing power but gain a lot in your life pool; You don’t really need that much healing power to be a regen monster.
Never understood this build in one respect.
Why would you not take a couple of spirits and change the traits to the two main spirit ones?
You would get protection which makes up for the regen loss.
Your regens are not scaling off the +duration trait save Nature’s Voice. Would be quite different with healing sprint.
Or why not just summon a protection spirit and not worry about it running around with you? Then all you have to do is swap one utility (small regen) for one spirit and one trait (evasive purity) for one trait (Vigorous spirits).
Not dissing Koroshi, but Faux, Xsourus, and myself have all put out videos with practically the exact same build over 8 months ago, minus the shouts, which, imo are not worth it over 30BM.
I personally run MB w/ 30% move speed on my pet with dire/apoth mix and Dwayna and have no issue. Giving up move speed as a solo roamer is a big no no for me personally. and I always have used Bark Skin. Empathetic bond just annihilates my pet, especially vs classes that run perplexity garbage etc which pretty much makes my pet pointless. Running only SoR and have no issues fighting condi classes, even vs 2 necros the other day.
I also prefer Entangle, when used correctly on classes that can’t mitigate or break the immob, it’s lethal.

I always find it funny when I see posts of people claiming builds to be theirs. Good job, you posted it on the forums first! I’m sure there were a bunch of people running the build before you. However, like myself I’ve played since pre-launch but didn’t start going on the forums until 6-8 months after playing the game.
Also, you not taking EB and saying you can fight 2 necromancers is a joke, unless they were powermancers, you would have been ate up alive if they were even half way decent conditionmancers.

I don’t think theyve ever claimed the builds to be theirs. Theres a few rangers that were first to help popularise certain builds though.
Been running the power version of Faux’s regen build for few months now and had tons of fun with it. I’m usually running with 2-4 people and it truly shines there, while the condition version works fantasticly for solo stoof.
You took what I said and twisted it. A good class or two of reading comprehension would do you some good.

I tried out the YouTube version of this build on a sPvP dueling server last night. It was interesting, to me, that for a condition focused build, it doesn’t seem to have a very high condition application rate.
It makes me wonder if a similar build using Power, HP, toughness gear would be as effective.
Otherwise, it was a pretty fun setup. What do you find to be the downsides in WvW solo roaming?

Inform me of what you were trying to say then?
If you weren’t trying to take credit or anything of the sort, you would have just said this is a standard shout build and left it at that. Or not said anything at all, which would have been the better choice.
Power to you guys for continuing to theorycraft for this class despite the neglect the developers have shown it.

I have done that, basically they can’t kill you but you can’t kill them either lol. There are simply not enough dps to do that

Haha. I had a 5+ minute duel with a cleric’s shout guardian. We decided to give it up when we realized we were both still at 100%. Fun fight though

Well, the power build isn’t that bad for roaming but some fights can be really.. Long. Either it ends up in a draw or you die to boredom. I couldn’t really handle the PU condi mesmers with my melee setup and boy, are there many PU mesmers out there these days. I think the condi setup works better for soloing, the only problem I had was with some necros and their ability to throw all the condis back at me :<
But as I said earlier, the power build is absolutely lovely for small scale 2-4 roaming. Haven’t tried raiding or zerging with it since neither is my cup of tea. I know lots of people say that there are classes that can do supporting better than a ranger, but we ended up building our whole roaming team and the builds around this one and it works amazingly. Having the perma regen & swiftness (also boons shared from warhorn 5 and the rune set I run, fury and might whenever I heal) through the fights can really turn things around for our favor. Fleeing from blobs is a bit easier too. I don’t run with healing spring because we are moving all the time, stopping for heals would be the death of us in most cases and as always, people tend to try to focus me down because well.. Rangers are supposed to be easy kills?
I did try the condi version with the group last weekend and it works pretty nicely too. I do miss my swoop and block tho, kind of hard to live without GS after running for months and months with it.

I’ve tried multiple times to get a pure condition ranger using a sword/x axe/x to work in sPvP and am always disappointed. My solution was to use a similar tanky build but focus on power, which is the main damage of both a sword and axe. I use barbarian’s and +5% crit sigils which give me a 40% crit rate as well as over 27 thousand health. You can hybridize it just as well (perhaps better) with flame trap/Rabid amulet, but I didn’t like the health loss.
The concept is the same: you’re tough to kill, and slowly whittle people down. I just find the autoattack much more consistent than trying to apply conditions I don’t have.
Edit: Should also mention it gives you an excuse to bring Spotter.

@FrauFrau – will definitely check out the vids when I have time later tonight. Watch this space for edits.
ETA: That’s a pretty interesting variant you have with the GS. It really adds an extra layer of mobility that lets you fly around the battlefield. I assume you are using Cleric’s gear in that setup?

Fluff, have you tried this in WvW at all? It seems that you would be a lot squishier in a 1vX situation without the healing power and toughness. Maybe there is a sweet medium somewhere in there though.
Also, I might drop the Axe/X in favor of GS in a power setup, just to have the added mobility (again, thinking WvW).

I have not tried it in WvW because of the money of changing builds.
In PvP I use Dolyak runes to up the regen and toughness. The 67% crit chance during fights and almost 3k power (I go 25 into MM and just leech some out of the other two trait lines) with fast attacks winds up killing PvP roamers pretty effectively. The axe hits heavies for like 600-800 per autoattack bounce, which is acceptable. The build is borderline unacceptable though since there are things like spirits.
In WvW there might be something there because you can boost the crit damage through gear mixes. Have to see what happens after the crit nerf though.

Being mobile is pretty much a must thing in wubwub these days. If you are slow, you’ll die a lot more. Mobility comes handy while chasing the nike warriors and alikes too. I tried to run with a main hand axe with the condition build but it felt too clunky and I ended up splatting a lot. Then again it could also be just my own fault since I really don’t dig offhand dagger and that prolly would have saved me few times if I had used it. I suppose it also depends on which server you are and in which tier. I have been hopping around from server to server and currently poking around in SoR tier 1. In tier 1 people do everything to win, so there’s barely any fair fights to be had thus there’s lots of running and swooping involved too.
I had been depating for a long time if it was worth investing on clerics (Well, I have 12k badges so it didn’t really cost anything except storage space) and I think it’s one of the most enjoyable builds I have ran in a long time. Spamming guard every 12 seconds was a bit irritating at first but slowly it turns into a reflex and you don’t even notice it anymore. I was playing around with my necro on the other day and kept wasting skills because of the automatic guard spam button smashing disorder I have now :>
Can anyone elaborate on the weaknesses of this build? Which classes and/or builds are difficult to kill? Are there any classes you just run from because you know it will end poorly? My guesses are:
- Difficult to kill anyone with really good condition removal.
- Necros could be nasty due to their ability to flip conditions back on you.
- Thieves with boon steal spam could be difficult if you cannot maintain regen
I tried a similar build but spamming a shout was very annoying during fighting when you need to multi-task.
Ive been considering regen type builds without this mechanic but havent found anything satisfying that still gives sufficient dps.
