Its one of the better armour sets for rangers, so yes it can own in 1v1s if you play it correctly. Its usually played with traps.

Depends… but a trapper with rabid gear is good, yes. You can put out a lot of hurt with condi damage in full rabid with undead runes.

Just curious, does he use a shortbow setup or an axe/x sword/x? I know of the build myself but I’m really not sure on the weapons, as they both have their ups and downs.

undead runes and the bleed on crit sigil with traps is a fantastic build

and yes jcbroe axe and or shortbow with sword is good, with any offhand you want pretty much. i prefer torch or dagger myself.

Well I’ve been running shortbow and sword/torch on my spirit setup, but I saw on the reddit gw2esports page with it listed as axe and sword with torch/dagger.

They are definitely both viable, I think the shortbow is actually better in this build to keep the spirits out of cleave range, which is why I was curious.

The difference on the traits is mainly just Sharpened Edges and the Wilderness Tree, because I chose to use Shared Anguish and since I have a shortbow, Offhand training isn’t nearly as useful as having a target drop on CC.

If I was playing in a more organized group though I’d take Vigorous Renewal every time for pulsing Vigor for the group.

I like yours better right away because of the Sharpened Edges. At first glance Natures Vengeance doesn’t look that great. Although likely it is better for pvp…and since I am only WvW I don’t see the value.

Yeah it’s a PvP choice, because in team fights if the Spirits die, its another activation of a blind and immobilize, as well as another rez and full condi clear from the elite.

For WvW, I haven’t experimented yet, but right away my go to option is Nature’s Protection. It has probably helped me live through more burst rotations than I can count. Sun Spirit could also be replaced with Frost Spirit, because in PvP, you can stack a lot of burning, but there are less people and it can be more coordinated, giving burning a better chance to shine. But in WvW, in big enough groups, targets just melt, and they might not even live long enough for burning to matter.

Stone Spirit is absolutely amazing though, both its passive and its active.

I used Stone Spirit for about 10 days a couple of weeks ago. I dueled a few people in WvW and a Thief actually though I was hacking somehow with the protection I had up most of the time. I didn’t have the trait where it followed you around though…..and I didn’t even think of using the Elite Spirit ( I’m slow sometimes)

Once I get over my Zerker LB/GS trip I will go back to it and tweak it some more.

I wouldn’t use hide in plain sight though. It’s different from your regular stealth; you exit stealth when you move. And even if you stay still, they’ll still know where you are coz you have spirits around you.

Trapper Build can eat people alive with Rabid Gear, but you have to kill them equally cause the substain is very low in the fight.

Let me say you have two options. 10/0/30/30/0 or 0/10/30/30/0 I prefer the latter. Deku God (the guy who has been using spirits since day one) uses a/d s/w to get max bleeds with rabid gear. I like to use shortbow and s/t because I like the stun. We both use fear wolf, I use river drake, he uses lynx. He takes 3 spirits, stone, sun, storm (storm is awesome because it hits for 3k non crit and with traits can be used as like a 6k spike when it dies). I take 2 spirits, sun and storm. I don’t take stone because I get protection on dodgerolls already and that lasts pretty long. I also like having signet of renewal because its a stunbreak and condi clear. We both use runes of rata sum for a little extra kick from the rad field. With sharpening edges the rad field can actually proc bleeds too. Hope this helps. Shared anguish is a must and all the spirit traits. The master trait in WS is up to you.

Ranger simply demolishes anyting in 1v1. The issue is there you rarely see any 1v1 situations in pvp or wvw ^^
