Guardian / Ranger / Mesmer / Necro / Warrior
Played since 1st online ‘demo’ months before the BWEs.
It’s been really fun fighting the crazed drakes and other condition spewing Southsun mobs recently on my Ranger.
Finally some mobs that make having condition removal measures worthwhile. While it is not easy, as you have to juggle your cool downs and be careful to know when it is time to bail and put some distance between you and the mob(s), it is fun.
It’s also kind of fun watching so many zerkers go splat when they run into these mobs.
“Outa my way, gona hundred blades/rage these drakes down before you know it,” plop.
My guildie was telling me how he watched two groups of people die to one of those things. 10 people, and not a single one of them thought to bring a condition removal skill…
Other neat things to do as a Ranger there:
1) One-skill KO the Young Karka with off-hand axe. Stand at point blank range, wait for the projectile animation, then hit Whirling Axes.
2) Egg Karka vs. Great Sword. As long as you cleave down the eggs, your pet can pretty much destroy the karka’s. Even the champion one (provided you stay in melee range).
3) Zerk Warriors tend to explode when Projectile Karka’s steamroll or go into stompy mode. Either of those are mostly nullified by GS#4. /point /laugh, then AOE rez with healing spirit.
How the heck are you 1-skill-killing Young Karka with projectile reflect? I usually get them down to half health at the lowest.
Also, screw Reef Drakes. I hate them, condition removal or no. That cursed instant AoE “puddle” they have is horrible, especially when they put it down and then pull / stun you in the middle of it.

What I want to know is why my reef drake does not have the good attacks the other reef drakes have.

We should really get some kind of pet progression going on, even if the pet keeps the same attributes at least let it acquire different F2 skills and maybe a different looking skin, that reef drake attack is too bad kitten not to have it.

It does kind of make me wonder why we have no pet evolution like in GW1. They are forever stuck now as juvenile pets….what’s up with that?
