Gear for PVE trap ranger
The new sinister gear is great for a trapper.
It is Cond/Power/Precision gear, it fits the role really well, and if you add an axe in the second set for the might in the auto attack it will rise both cond and direct damage.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I’ve played around with this build in Silverwastes. It uses Sinister stats.
thank you,
Sinister look nice, but I am little scared from pure dps gear with no defense stat.
if its for PvE you got no worries , just slot some Valk trinkets(most effective) with Sinister gear weapons and Power / condi runes or Condi/toughness/precison type runes.
thing is with traps all you need is evasive weapoon sets , Sb+S/D perfect.
Yeah, in PvE you don’t need to worry about survival at all.
The 4 extra trait points will give you most of the survivability you need, either the TOU or the VIT.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You are going to be kiting the whole time with the amount of cripples you are getting with LB #5, and Spike Trap so going for more survival would be a mistake in my opinion. I’d suggest using dual bows with something like 6/6/2/0/0.
6 – Keen Edge/Spotter/Piercing Arrows
6 – Sharpened Edges/Trapper’s Expertise/Trap Potency
2 – Wilderness Knowledge

Flame/Viper/Spike trap for utilities, and entangle for elite.
Sigil of Agony/Smoldering on SB and Sigil of Force/Fire for LB.
Rune set, I’d go with Travellers so you can kite better and it gives you a bit of all things.
Just curious how does power affect traps? Isnt it better if i take rabid instead? Also do traps crit? Just asking bout the sinister suggestion
all it does is increase its inital damage amount (the spike portion of the trap trigger) , running that type of build you’ll need Leveled pressure , if one part of your build is low damage e.g spike trap.
since you can’t maintain dps while throwing the trap or laying it down a little power could/can do some good.
you could use sinister to lvl the field of damage so you do good on all aspects of the build even while your in down time of dps while planting the traps.
the only difference between sinister and rabid , is your trading off phsyical dps for toughness , loosing out on crit hits.
to regain those crit hits you’ll have to mix rampagers in to the mix , so its all better the while trying out full sinister and then Suplimenting your toughness else where.
