Getting really frustrated (Need help in PvP)
Yes, but killing bunkers as a power based ranger will still be near impossible if they are any good since rangers completely lack boon stripping and are very weak at dealing with conditions.
Could you post what weapons you want to use and how you want to play? Certain builds work better for specific circumstances. I would reference you to my video https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/How-to-zerg-as-a-Power-Ranger-video/first#post2115754 but that build is designed for group play (and although I do some smaller skirmishing, I have had a ton of practice to make it work). I could help if you specify small group, large group, solo or are we talking spvp?

I really enjoy the feel of the longbow but I know what you said about power based Rangers pretty much throws that out of the question.
I should stick to Trap Ranger (Might be forced too..) I could use some help with the build and pet choices and stat spread. I mostly want a 1v1 (Yeah I know.. 1v1s are dumb but I enjoy dules in MMOs and always will.. just the thrill of the fight really.) From what I understand Trap Ranger can be fun to do this with, but as mentioned, no idea how aside rabid gear… :c I’ll definitely be working on a Zerg Power set next! Great video btw!

Thanks! I have a trap build I use to great success in both spvp and wvw in all types of group/solo play. It focuses on having extreme condition damage while still being very tanky and evasive. It is pretty strong with exotic gear (rabid) but honestly pretty op with the new ascended rabid/carrion mix gear (I call it that since it gives condi, tough, vit, and a small amount of precision) as it makes you extremely tanky while still having a near broken amount of condition damage. Give me a minute to write it up, I don’t have it saved anywhere.

Thank you so much!!! I dont know how to thank you! Looking forward to the build!
Honestly, as long as pvp remains a game of point capturing/holding, and the same stat combinations from PvE are not available in PvP, it is hard for MOST classes to justify building something other than high toughness/defensive.
That being said, in PvE, you can go with some Knights Armor and Cavaliers Trinkets, etc etc, I can post a basic idea, but it won’t be as optimized as it could be, I’m just throwing it together for an example: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQFADGAWK2Lw2DNlETmiDZE-j0xAYLAyCQCsIasFyioxqYw0nER1+jioVDA-w

Like I said, focus is on heavy evasion. Basically, you drops your conditions, and flop around constantly swapping weapons. You can trade the axe/dagger for a shortbow, it is easier to learn the build that way but your damage will be slightly lower. Carry a second weapon (I choose dagger) for +10% bleed duration and swap it out when you get 25 stacks of corruption for even more damage. Any build running very little condition removal won’t stand a chance against this build, and those running heavy condition removal will still have a hard time because this build is able to apply many different long duration conditions in rapid succession. Something peculiar about this build is the split up of sword/dagger, which you see on many other builds. Why? Well I find it imperative to bring on demand evades on both weapon sets to evade any burst through soft cc or immobilize (you can’t dodge roll in immobilize but you can still use weapon skills!). Yes, it lacks a stun breaker and stability, so be careful against heavy cc, but the camouflage comes in handy if for nothing else but getting the target off of your head.
Bunkers exist not only to hold point, but to survive against thieves and mesmers and engineer levels of damage.
Berserker rangers and necros and guardians and engineers suffer because mesmers and thieves and condition bunkers neutralize them pretty well. All of these don’t have the spike levels of the former, and they don’t have the mobility/escape/immunities that allow the former to also stay offensive in GC builds.
TLDR; If you don’t like bunker or traps, play an alt until they patch the class. I’m sure you’d find thief players who want to play bunkers or necromancers that want effective power builds or mesmer bunker builds, but in the current state of the game very few classes have the luxury of many working build options.
Not spending Points in WS means you need to be more carefully.
Its possible, dont listen to ppl say bunker works only.
This is how I play…

and I have still much to learn.
But I can tell there is always a counter even for Bunkers!
LVL2: Thief
That thief was horrible. And not because he lost to you sometimes. He simply did not know how to use stealth to his advantage.
I have tons of Videos they all the same.
If not a bouncing sword thief I can owned them all.
LVL2: Thief
Warri guard ele, all no prob.
Mesmer and necros are the pain in the kitten ATM to me.

Not really sure what this “bunker” ranger is, (i just started playing r) but I’ve been playing a pvp only ranger with a bleed build and I am destroying people.
So much so that I’ve been accused of hacking twice and have had multiple people whisper me telling me how much they hate me, and how much of a noob I am…so the build must be working lol.
I’ve been using shortbow & axe/dagger with juvie lynx & eagle. I’ll try to find the build I used as a template, and then modified for my own tastes.
I think the reason it works well most of the time is because people don’t understand how much clearing conditions helps to keep you alive.

I can’t emphasize this enough. It is so very important you bring condition cleanse on any build.

I’m a little shocked. Necros are possibly the easiest profession to kill next to warriors on the ranger simply due to ranger having an entire lack of boons, high mobility in combat, and much higher dps.

Maybe necros are a bit like rangers. You need to play them really good, and in the right hands they can be devastating. I certainly met a few necros that just blew me up with conditions.

TL;DR: Dont wanna be a bunker, re-roll thief and spam 2, or is there any burst (but not quite glass) ranger builds?
1) Bm ranger is not a bunker, is basically everything at the same time.
2) As a thief you don’t have necessarily to spam 2, i spam 3 for example (seriously i think the thief is far from op atm and it’s defo not an easy class to play).
You can burst as a ranger, even with a “bunker” (as they call it) bm spec. The problem is most ppl here think condition specs are the only way to play as a ranger.
Are you only interested in solo roaming or could you be happy with zerg surfing? You can actually do extremely well zerg surfing with LB/SB with a mix of PVT/Zerker gear . You can also run that combination as bunker & put out pretty decent damage. Look for this guy: Sarlack.4096 He has a couple great vids showing LB/SB Bunker play. I’ve run both these specs I mention and had great success.

My problem at 1vs1 is …
Minions can melt me down fast.
Its like Catssassin+Bunker with endless movement impairing.

Minions tickle and have cerebral palsy; what are you talking about? The only minion that hits for anything is the golem, and half the time I use it on my necro it just sits there and stares at the opponent when it’s not too busy chasing after people I’ve long since disengaged from.
Coming from a Mesmer who has been looking into playing with ranger. (I can’t find any of your guys build guides someone make a sticky that organizes them like we did for mesmer. PLEASE)
Ranger especially the massive Regen build is easily the most frustrating fight for my Mesmer. It is simply never ending battle.
Seriously, though I would love for you guys to organize your guides so those of us wanting to try the ranger can find them. ^^

Check that thread out. Feel free to bump it too its on 6th page when it should be stickied.
Soldier rune berserker jewel and a standard 0/10/30/0/30 BM shortbow/sword/warhorn is solid as hell in spvp that’s what I use with great success, hardest would be supernuke mesmers and regen ranger bunkers, you can often burst them fast though before the ranger wears you down with superior regen or the mesmer nukes you instead.
