Glyph of Unity
Agreed.
Though, it has received a huge amount of ideas how to be improved. None was to be implemented.
I actually had someone try using this on me tonight while roaming. I say try (it landed on me) but I just laughed and kept on killing them in melee range with my longbow.
On the plus side, it does look cool.

If GoU had a flip over skill that allowed those chained by it to be pulled before 6sec end AND ancient seeds could be proced off pulls I would be all over it.
Oops thought I was in edit, ohwell.
It just needs something else to make it better.
All I could ask for is the activation & tether range to be 600 so it isn’t as clunky to use. Maybe add a bonus on the final pulse to those still tethered like Necromancer’s Tainted Shackles. Daze foes for the normal and on the inverse a burst heal to allies still attached.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.

i told you so.
the concept is really wrong. simply because this kind of skill is not designed for the ranger.
- the range is really bad. with a dodge you break the link.
- the duration is a joke. 6 seconds is not long enough to be noticeable. and much less an elite.
- the effect is not good enough. that skill is to suicide yourself bombing the zerg, just is left to shout aluk akba when you cast it.
to be useful without the need to change the mechanics of the glyph it must transfer all the damage, so the druid get none while tethered and the targets get all the fun . last 6 seconds and has 600 range, for the love of god, has to be the ranger/druid the only class that must be the sidewheels for idiots to learn to fight in pvp?
you know you fight a druid and you know all its skills are crap or awfully telegraphed.
i have yet to see a ranger skill that does 9k single impact with no cast and 4 second CD and 1200 range like the rev hammer #2….
You may have told, but I rarely read your dribble. The fault lies is that this elite was made for two separate niches with the normal and inverse versions. 600 tethering range isn’t bad at all considering most Glyphs are half of that range.
How it is currently bugged is an improvement on what it could be. If you haven’t caught the bug, the effects linger on targets even after they pass the range threshold. It’s better without the tethering, but if they insist on keeping it, extending the initial range to 600 is as best as one could hope for.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Only thing this skill is “decent” for (not really) are vs pocket raptors in pve. That’s it.
I’ve tried using this skill and I don’t really get it, lol.
Is it basically a fancy on demand version of Retaliation? It doesn’t seem to reflect very much damage back to the source as far as I can tell.
Champion: Phantom, Hunter, Legionnaire, Genius
WvW rank: Diamond Colonel | Maguuma
Maybe another way is if it linked enemies to ranger AND pet it would be amazing.

Now, that’s a good idea right there. At least then it can be powerful with “Guard!” rather than this weak niche with Signet of Stone.

oh i know you do transversal reading on everything more extensive than a twit but you read Although that could be a reason you may miss so much in life.
like everything with the ranger the problem is not the glyph range by itself.
the problem is all of it: poor range, undesirable effects and short duration.
If that elite would work as a SoS and the actual effect combined they could take the cd up to an elite Cd (60 seconds) and actually be useful.
linking the pet also would not work simply because the pets movement is too erratic. And it would be mostly useless in ranged pets like beastly warden is.
Also i dont like to be forced to use a “set”, like the “set” sos and glyph of unity.

Linking it with the pet would be all right if that particular part wasn’t tied to a tether range. More or less having the effect proc so whenever you or the pet took damage, enemies tethered to the player could be the only ones affected.
Also, I understand not liking to be forced into using a set. Unfortunately, for those that remember that Druid reveal stream, the developers think the Ranger community was craving more niche builds. Not that I support that sentiment, but I was on the forum long enough to be confused where the hell did they took that demand from.
Thus, Glyph of Unity. =/
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
What if glyph of unity did some sort of boon share with those it connected…might make it better without the need to completely rework the skill

Needs cast time removed.
The pitiful dmg is hardly worth it if you even have to skip something else that would deal damage just to cast it.

Hey, that’s a thought! Share boons with tethered allies in one state. Share conditions with tethered foes in the other state?
Might have to rework the cooldown on that…
I use druid builds with toughness and the glyph of unity. So far it works fine… Not good, not great… Just averagely okay.
1. The duration is too short
2. The distance is too short
3. The damage could be better.
4. CF form… It’s useless, I never use it. 3 and 4 do better job without sacrificing a cool down.
Basically the skill is used in builds made to take damage. (Toughness or vit or healing power) which would be fine if it was slightly stronger. Right now, in its present form it has the pros and cons of a utility skill.
increase damage, increase duration significantly and revamp the CA form (share boons or something similar to CF 4), but to balance it, also increase the CD to 45-60 seconds to make it on par with elite skills.
The main problem is that it scales with offensive stats.
So if you are brave enough to become a suicide bomber, you’ll get some nice numbers from this (for 2 seconds and then you die).
If you are tanky – there’s nothing to look at except the cleanse from verdant etching you get.
I love the idea about sharing conditions to tethered enemies and sharing boons to tethered allies.

Cleric is the only set I think could be viable
Power for dmg
Toughness to survive
Healing to stay alive
Like the boon/condition share idea, was thinking of something along those lines, maybe:
- Normal – copy conditions applied to you to tethered enemies
Not sure exactly how this would work – maybe use the old mallyx elite skill effect or just simply copy conditions as they are applied - CA form – copy boons applied to yourself to nearby allies
Same sharing rules as other boon copies to prevent a repeat of the WHaO mess
Would be nice for support druid but may be too strong with shout ranger tho, especially if you run some boon duration (also axe auto would stack might like crazy).
“There is no sand in the desert borderland”
It would be nice for boon stacking thats for sure

Sorry to say but your suggestions are useless, not because they are bad, but because anet does not nor have they ever cared about rangers.
pretty much the only time I use it are for those suicide attacks
staff 3 pop SoS use GoU go into CaF and use Natural Convergence its a nice combo but its like I said A suicide attack and thats pretty much the only time I feel that GoU does any noticeable dmg when I suicide into their team and activate it which you pretty much have to considering its crappy range
