hey all as the post title suggests I’m looking for a good PVE ranger build using longbow for DPS looking to do dungeons also.

I’m thinking the 3 main stats I need would be pwr, pre, crit but I’ve no clue what runes I would need or armor etc I’m really want to go full zerk am I right in thinking that’s all exotic/ascended gear with power, pre, crit?

If someone could link me to a walk trough guide to setting up a Ranger PVE/Dungeon DPS guide that’s greatly appreciated

This is my current build.. I just came back from a 1½year break and i run dungeons/fractals daily now. I dont know if this build is optimal or actual crap but i think it works.. The only thing you need to think about is to switch pet’s as soon as the cooldown is gone

By no means do you HAVE to run it to a T though. I run something similar, but I changed mine up to allow for more team support that isn’t always available in pugs (e.g. a lot more mightstacking, even though a good group will have a phalanx warrior and pre-stacking, not every pug group does it)

Druid main, 80 on all, Legendary ranked, Eternal and all that jazz (I go by Feyris in game)

Skip the scholar runes, they’re way too expensive. Rune of the Ranger is better and a lot cheaper. Also the dungeon meta is going to go away after HoT releases. Anet is in the process of killing dungeons completely in favor of raids.

Ok so I have updated my armor a bit with some runes and such this is what I have so far any comments questions is welcome on how to make the best of my norn ranger.

Can anyone recommend a build that works well with the below items and also Power, Precision, ferocity for PVE thanks one that also highlights traits too ?

Armor
Berserker’s Noble Mask of the Ranger,Berserker’s Noble Shoulders of the Ranger,Berserker’s Noble Coat of the Ranger,Berserker’s Noble Gloves of the Ranger,Berserker’s Noble Pants of the Ranger,Berserker’s Noble Boots of the Ranger all of these have superior rune of the ranger these are rare equipment not exotic rare for the moment till I can afford exotic

Longbow
Assassin’s Pearl Stinger of Accuracy with superior of accuracy and superior sigil or night

Axe/Warhorn these I’m still working on any comments or ideas for these is appreciated

Rings/Amulets
Berserker’s Ring,Berserker’s Ring,Berserker’s Amulet,Cavalier’s Field Guide,Cavalier’s Field Guide Rare rings and amulets not Excotic

All that is fine, and you can use something along the lines of ITheNormalPerson’s post (just drop the spirit for open world since you’ll constantly leave it behind.) I wouldn’t invest any more money till HoT comes out and you figure out what you need if you plan on doing raids. Otherwise that gear is totally fine for open world PvE.

Agree about scholar runes, but ranger runes are not the best choice for example for fractals…
I think OP have to focus on fractals instead of dungeons, because all money goes there in future (:

“We’re reducing the liquid rewards” does not actually mean you stop earning ducats. It means you earn fewer in cash. I mean, technically it could go to 0, or ‘nearly nothing’, but ‘less’ doesn’t really mean either of those things. It could drop to 75 silver, or not actually be touched in less-run dungeons like Arah or CoE.

You’re right not to invest heavily, but don’t kid yourself by being so doom and gloom you totally ignore plausibility.

Their endgame is fashion. People running places that give unique skins is definitionally not a failure for them, because it means people are playing their endgame, although it may be optimal to have fewer doing those specific skins. It’s POSSIBLE they don’t realize or admit that, true, but I’d need to see hard evidence of it; not doom n’ gloom about how they’re going to more actively try to actually kill dungeons because it’s the ‘only way to make raids or fractals good.’

I mean really, they claim they want raids to be like raids from other games and require real coordination – I don’t know that they’ll succeed, but if they do, many people won’t do them (which presents its own issues, yes). They almost have to know that, which is why they are ALSO focusing on Fractals (Which will, nominally, NOT require coordination). But endgame is endgame – you don’t actually WANT people to stop doing content, as such. You want them to maybe spam it less, but not fail to do it entirely. If ANet can’t admit that, that’s one thing, but you’re kinda just asserting it absent any real evidence. Yes, they want to shift away from dungeons, but that doesns’t require murdering dungeons (And again, they WANT people motivated to hunt for skins, because it’s all theyv’e got for a PvE endgame, still.)

Scholar runes are cheap … And dungeon meta isn’t going anywhere after HoT because dungeons aren’t going to change after HoT… Except for the reason to do them since rewards are getting nerfed further to make them a lot less profitable. If the meta changes its only going to change in the direction to get them done that much faster sinc, again, there will be even less rewards overall for completing them. They will literally be dead content to me after HoT drops… Just like WvW and PVP.

True, if he ends up doing raids, but he asked about pve (which was vague, granted), but if dungeons is what he wants to do then investing in them wouldn’t be bad. I’m willing to bet that the zerk setup will be useful in most of the content coming.

Sinister beats it anywhere in longer encounters.
Zerks are bursters for the time being. Not the real DPS anymore (it seems). Their DPS is way too risky and comes with a burst, then ticks down.

Conditions are the other way round. They keep piling up and eventually beats Zerker Straight. If NPCs with low HP are in new fractals – yes. Zerker is better.
If there are not – Zerker will be for Dungeons and old open world only.
And that we currently do not know yet.
Even Silverwastes are more Condition oriented. I was able to 10-man a red breach hulk with 5 people running sinister. Killing the boss in like 1 minute straight. By doing lots of AoE.

People still fail it because everybody is playing Zerker and still scale it up further up to that (which means Zerker already became harmful in some of the PvE scenarios, even open world).
