I was extremely happy to get these last night, but it was short lived.

I used teleport to a friend to a guy that happened to know where the Tiger was after the event, danced in glee, did the same for the wyvern, and danced some more. After that, the guy I guess logged off? no idea, but the entire map chat was going nuts to find this Tiger.

While I think its cool that we have to go through an event chain to unlock stuff, I truly do, the short amount of time afterwards is ridiculous. I actually felt bad that so many people were gliding around lost in panic mode because they couldnt find the Tiger. One of my guildies went into full depression mode.

I hope in the future if they dont change the location they at least extend the timer

How much time after the event are we talking about here? I’m asking because I never made it to actually win the event due to quitter parties and I’m wondering how much longer will it take me to find a good party just to get a pet…

It seems ANet excel at making ppl excited… far too much, almost at the cost of their health. A game is meant to be fun, not a heartache.

That blows the mind really. I mean, not knowing the location, I worked for 2 hours now to get 10 minutes and there’s always a very high chance to fail…

Unfortunately, the thread that requested alternate ways to access these two pets was locked.

Yeah, the lengths you have to go to just to access the areas are a bit ridiculous; even more so given you only have 10-15mins to get to both and the E-Wyvern platform is awkward as hell to reach.

After my map completed the event, I was sent into a panicked frenzy trying to reach each pet in time… not exactly fun, but I will admit that it made my success very satisfying.

Had the exact same issue with smokescale. Had it one whole day before they nerfed it. My wife and I camped that sight for over two hours too. . . .

oh it was an AMAZING feeling, thats why I think its good its locked behind an event, its the 10 minute timer thats ridiculous

I got the Tiger but couldn’t get to the wyvern. I did the event about 5 times and was successful twice. The first time I couldn’t find the Tigers or make the glide to the wyvern. The second time I printed off the maps from this board and found the tiger.

There is just not enough time after the event. It is very stressful racing around the map trying to find the pets and competing with other Rangers. This is after completing a two hour event which is stressful enough by itself.

I am not going back without L3 gliding.

Gratz on getting them haha. Im afraid that in the one map I managed to succeed the event on I wasn’t able to make it onto the electric wyvern platform. Kinda ruined the feeling of completing the event u.u.

I got my tiger few days ago and finally e wyvern today, thanks to a nice fella who had that advanced gliding to reach that hero point where e wyverns were. Mind you, it was LITERALLY 10seconds before the map closed. I was pleading for anyone with advanced gliding to let me know for the whole 14 minutes(the map closes 15mins after the Mouth of Mordremoth dies btw). This has to change. Making it 30 mins should allow more time and possibly to invite someone you know that has advanced gliding, to come join the map and get it for you to tp/portal to.

On a positive note, pugs are getting much better and much quicker to learn and effectively do the Dragon’s Stand now. There’s a reddit post that I don’t have a link to, but long story short it is a ‘circle method’ regarding one big group going around killing the preservers while a group of 10-15 kills the pods at the beginning and spends the rest of the fight killing the boss. This was such an effective method that we finished that part of the event in less than 20minutes.

Don’t give up hopes yet, you’ll be able to get them very soon and keep trying and join those organized DS maps in LFG.

Think it was locked because of people trolling, not because of the subject matter?

So, it’s possible that someone could make another thread like that.

The people trolling on that thread were, invariably, the ones who think it’s fine for our profession mechanics to be locked behind hurdles like this.

Almost certainly people who play against Rangers, rather than as them.

Pretty sure they would feel differently if the shoe were on the other foot and their main classes’ mechanics were gated like this.

Especially if their main classes were already at a general disadvantage.

I got the tiger, as I really wanted that particular pet and I think it’s easier to locate, but I still haven’t got the Wyvern.

I don’t really play my Ranger anymore, even though I would like to, as it’s just not anywhere near as useful as my Mesmer and is far more stressful to play.

So, I’m not going to put myself through trying to get the Wyvern quickly, until I’m in the right kind of mood to fully research it, first.

Just not worth the hassle for me.

got my tiger 2 days ago. F2 seems pretty good due to the low CD. its eye blinking animation is messed up though (be warned, once you see you cant unsee)

couldnt get anyone to port up for the E wyvern, though from what I understand the wyverns are pretty bad right now, so no rush i guess

that’s why I never even look for these 2 pets. 2 hours is a very long time, plus finding the pet. although, i’d totally use them very often if i have them. it’s just time consuming. I do not have 2-3 hours spare to do the event and look for them. I will have to settle without. I am glad you found them though. I can always use them in pvp so that’s fine with me.

Its 15 minutes I think, tiger is easy to reach when you know where to get it but I had to literally beg in map chat for 10+ mins for a port to wyvern because I didn’t have the mastery needed. Maybe if I offered gold it would have been quicker but blah. -_- Also you have to finish the map on your ranger because you can’t relog into the map, gets a network connection error or something.

I got to the wyvern hp with just L2 gliding. You have to go out on the vine just behind the merchant. You don’t have to climb up just jump, hold down shift and glide straight across (no course corrections).

I did it on my rev and ended up adding a bunch of peeps that ported over and got the hp/pets.

If you do get over be a bro and announce it in map chat so people can add you and port to friend

Of course i spent 2 hours on the event and it failed. Much work for nothing. Will try again ….sometime. :/

Did an attempt today and got into a map where two lanes kept wiping and pointing fingers in chat while the lane I was in ran circles for 40 minutes keeping preservers down. Luckily we all pulled through in the end and beat the event.

I’ve had problems with crashes before, kicking me out of the map when trying to loot the chest at the end, but somehow the game remained stable this time and allowed me to get both wyvern and tiger.

Very happy now but still feel maybe it’s a bit much. Then again, groups are getting a lot better and if there had been a new pet behind Teq when the rework was just released I’m sure I’d reacted the same way I do now. However, these days Teq is almost guaranteed win by any semi-organized map and it’ll be the same for DS eventually. I can’t say what the future will hold for the crashes but hopefully something will be done or it’ll stabilize somehow.
