Seriously, @80 fully geared, I actually * feel * stronger just splitting between Masters

You’re a fool if you don’t have 30 points in Wilderness Survival. Bark Skin is a godsend if you plan on just surviving attacks that have no conditions, and Empathetic Bond takes 3 conditions off you and puts them onto the pet every few seconds. And if you’re traiting for traps, the Skirmishing Grandmaster trait for traps is amazing. You must be crazy if you think any of that is crap.

It isn’t just the Grandmaster traits. The ranger traits seem (to me) suffering from going from the non-tier selection of the early BWE’s to the current Adept/Master/Grand Master system where the profession has many options weak for the tier they are placed into (in a few case ranger master major traits are inferior to similar adept traits).

Pets have been hidden due to rising Player complaints.

The problem is that the grand traits are not powerful enough. There is nothing there that makes me say “Whhhoooa”

I have 30 in WS and don’t have Barkskin – why? because when my health even drops under that 30% it means that I’m just nuked by massive amount of enemies and even barkskin won’t help.
but from Grandmaster traits I have Natural healing (pet have natural health regen+ranger have some of it). not sure if I didn’t mistaken name of trait
and putting condition from me to my pet is pet murder sorry I can survive those 25 stacks of bleeding (thanks to many many regens I have) but pet will die very quickly (about regens: Signet of the wild, Grandmaster Beastmastery trait, and normall regens my build is bleeding from those are just for negate efects of conditions until I could pull them off me. pet have only that from trait and eventually some “normal” regen)
on my actuall build I noticed I can survive extremally long with 25 stacks of bleeding on me (once tested what happens If I use that signet that breaks stun on active and pet is pulling all condi to him – those 25 stack of bleed killed him very quickly)

Here’s the thing about Bark Skin, it’s a 33% passive damage reduction that STACKS WITH PROTECTION. It’s how I’m able to survive so long in low health as a Trap Ranger.

Yeah sure but…
really i never drops under that 33% of my hp, unless I’m nuked or just backstabbed by good-berserk-thief and in both cases even 66% dmg reduction won’t help (because I already lost 67% of my hp in just about 6 seconds)
I tried to play woth barskin and on my build if comes to that place when I have less than 33% hp there was no difference between using barskin or not using it – so I have martial mastery on GM slot and oakheart salve on master slot (which is one of the reason I rarely drop under thos 30% of my hp )

If I was going to bother with full trapping & surviv… I’d also have take full Skirmishing too.

…which would mean giving up way too much DPS+Versatility from Marksmanship line, or less damage from Pet… (which I guess won’t matter anyway soon once ANet nerfs the flippin pet in PvP and it carries over to PvE …). But I just wanna say this one thing: If anyone here don’t know how to line up arrows through the entire spawn of mobs by targeting the back one but still dodging, then I don’t wanna hear their opinions on which Passives give a couple %‘s more uptime. When stuff always dies before you do… you’re basically immortal. It’s the entire flaw with this game’s Ghetto-Trinity system and I think that fact’s been well covered here already :p

Sadly, There’s nothing the Traits do there that the Signets don’t do easier/better for most ppl.

many many enemies i met in WvW had same opinion about that.
they all just died when fight with me (or been very good thief and managed to run away :P) because it comes that for example combo that had to kill me was interrupted by something like “counteratack” or was evaded, or something else, and when they just runned up from theit dmg burst and made me nearly nothing they’ve got some nasty things like immobility + bleeding + dmg from my sword + dmg from my pet + more bleeds and in that situation it comes, that maybe on longer scale I’m doing lesser dmg – but I’m able to withstand their dmg while they are not able to withstand mine.

that’s the slight difference between berserker and bunker. I’m only sad that ranger don’t have own retaliation

I run with 0/0/30/10/30 build traits are Wilderness knowledge (to better cd on stunbreaker) Oakheart salve, Martial mastery, Nature’s Bounty (regens lasts longer), commanding voice (f2 recharge faster) rending atack (feline canine drakes and devourers bleeds on crit) Natural healing (pet and me gots regen)
as weapon normally gs + s/d, s/w, s/axe/bow (depends on situation) heal is healing spring utilities: stunbreaker(lightning reflexes or quickening zephyr) SoW, SoH, elite Entangle.
stats on armor/rest – actually some funny miks of apothecary knights and clerics, only thing I remeber for sure is 3k+ armor.

that theory about immortality have one weakness – You are not able to see and/or kill EVERYTHING before it gets to you – there are always situation, that You’ll miss some thief or whatever and on next stage…. You are dead. (basically fight with the thief is always instant melee – difference is only if You will see him or he will atack You by surprise. (or you’re luck and that thief don’t have dagger killing build)

PS. trapper bunker is 30 points in skirmishing….
