Casting Astral Wisp (Staff #2) without a target now attaches the Wisp to yourself.

Discuss.

Me like it.
However Anet already nerfed the amazing GM trait that did exactly that. So not happening.

When they made this change to the GM trait it wasnt a nerf, it was a huge buff. The nerf came after with addition of ling ICD, but with the same desighn.

Wisps on you and your pet that heals allies and hurt foes, balance accordingly.

Great idea, +1.

Can we make it not follow the ground also? Terrain makes a mockery of it.

Cool that everybody likes it.

  • the old functionality remains completely unchanged, you can still do what you always did
  • the selfcast comes with upsides (can better control to heal certain allies, sometimes no good enemy target available) but also downsides (no way to heal yourself with it)
  • the skill always felt like something was missing to me, maybe that’s it

Now I only wonder if it will actually happen. Dev response maybe? :/

Eh… it’d be an interesting change I suppose, but the skill would still be pretty sub-par, and it might be kind okittenward trying to lose your target to self-cast Wisp on yourself then get your target back so you can actually use #1 again. So beyond being interesting I don’t really think it’d help the skill all that much.

Just make it castable w/o a target.
Both guardian staff 2 and mesmer GS 2 can do that. I don’t see why this skill can’t.

This would be impossible to code mechanically. The Wisp travels through and pierces all targets even without stating so. At it’s current state it’s mechanically impossible to code which target should it glue onto.

I personally prefer wisp to be unable to be cast without a target. I know I won’t screw up my bar filler.

But if I got the bar filler on myself when no enemy is targeted – that would be cool indeed.

I mean isn’t this suggestion perfectly solving this? You could cast without target and it just circles yourself then. Cast with target and it will normally travel to it, deal dmg and then circle around the target.
